The story of Comic Cat and the fire

Once upon a time there was a cat. This was no ordinary cat. He was a super-hero, Comic Cat! Comic Cat was flying over the town one sunny afternoon when he saw a fire in a house. He ran into the house to rescue everyone. He rescued a dog, a bird and the pet food. Then Comic Cat called the fire brigade. When they arrived he flew the water hose up above the house and helped them put out the fire by making it rain. The firewomen checked and made sure that the fire could not spread to any other houses. Once the fire was out everyone cheered, Comic Cat was a hero! He then flew to the fish and chips shop to get dinner.

Proper noun is my name

Proper nouns are special naming words for people, places or things. Your name is a proper noun. My name, Comic Cat, is a proper noun. The name of the place, town or city you are in now is a proper noun. The first letter of a proper noun is always a capital letter. My name, _____________________, is a proper noun. Describe this

A boy and a girl walked into a house. The girl went up the stairs. The boy went into the kitchen. Up the stairs, the girl found some clothes. There was a jacket, a shirt and some shoes. In the kitchen, the boy found some pots and pans. Then they heard a noise. The boy and the girl ran outside.

A short boy and a tall girl walked into a haunted house. The tall girl went up the squeaky stairs. The short boy went into the dark kitchen. Up the squeaky stairs, the girl found some old clothes. There was a red jacket, an old shirt and some dancing shoes. In the kitchen, the boy found some rusty pots and brand new pans. Then they heard a scary noise. The short boy and the tall girl ran outside.

Out of order

Comic Cat landed next to the young boy and asked if the boy was lost. The young boy said he was, and that his name was Tom. He had wandered away from his family who were camping nearby.

On his way to the sandy beach Comic Cat heard a cry for help. A young boy was lost in the huge forest below him. Comic Cat knew he had to help.

Comic Cat flew back up into the sky, waving goodbye to Tom and his family. He could not wait to get to the sandy beach. Although, he did want some fish and chips now as well.

One sunny morning, Comic Cat was flying high through the bright blue sky on his way to the sandy beach for a holiday. Even superheroes need a holiday!

He flew down through the tall trees looking for the young boy. Luckily, the young boy was smart and was staying near a big area of fresh green grass that made it easy to spot him.

Comic Cat walked with Tom back to the campground where his family were waiting for him. The family were very happy.

I have written a new adventure. I was very clumsy this time and wrote it out of order! Can you cut out the narrative and arrange it in the correct order please.

Instructions for Set 1 Day 9 Activity

1. Use different coloured counters for different players.

2. Place the counters on the start word. Player 1 rolls the die and moves the correct number of spaces to a word.

3. Sound and read the word you land on aloud. If you say the word incorrectly you must move back 1 place. If you say the word correctly you may stay on that word until your next roll.

4. If you land on Comic Cat, go forward 2 spaces! 5. If you land on a word that makes the long ‘oo’ sound as

in moon, go back 1 space.

6. While you are doing this player 2 can roll the die and move to a word.

7. Take turns. 8. The winner is the first person to reach the finish.
