Ensure adequate supplies of crates, food, plastic bags, disinfectant, etc… Coordinate with Liaison for special supply needs. Coordinate with school officials for location of trash disposal. Set up pet walking areas. Set up rest area for DART members. Break down of Pet Friendly Shelter, clean-up and final inspection of area.

As DART members begin to arrive at Hogwarts School they are met by the school’s principal. The principal is very concerned that his facility is going to be used to house pets.
Should one of the first actions to be taken upon meeting the principal be to conduct an inspection of the school to determine what portions of the facility can be used to set up a shelter as well as identifying any pre-existing damage to the building that needs to be noted?
Part 2 Yes
Part 3 If the above answer is yes. – Identify the ICS function that will be responsible for this inspection and briefly describe how this be accomplished.
Part 4
Gail and Laura would be incharge of inspecting the school with the principal. The others may or may not tag along to get an idea of the facility layout. A special effrt would be made to inform the principal of the care that would be taken to assure no damage would occur to the school and their would be adequate clean up as part demob.

Multipurpose room -main entrance would be used for primary intake flow and animals would be housed starting on the far sice of the MPR with cats going into the music room. The print is too small to tell what rooms are which and this computer isn't blowing picture up well. Areas would be designated for intake vet exam if indicated and an area for unruly or dangerous dogs to be separated. Depending on the nature of the animal population we would try and isolate those anumals that have no hisoty of vaccination from the rest of the animals. A decon station would be set up if indicated as well. The owners would flow out through the side door. Once te majority of animals were housed a secure area for the animals would be established and owners would have a sign in and out sheet and clear instructions on where they could walk their animals etc. Safety officer would also oversea the set up of the shelter and the processing of the owners and their animals.

Emergency contact info would be verified. Members would be divided into several units to allow rotation during the 24 hour schedule. A supervisor would be assgned for each shift.

Sara and Howard Jones had to quickly evacuate as flood waters began to enter their home.
They have arrived while the shelter is still being setup with their female Shih Tzu named Precious wanting to check her in.
During the check-in process the Jones’s realize that they have forgotten the dog’s daily heart medication. The live of Precious is at risk unless they can get an emergency prescription quickly.
The Jones’s are un-able to make contact with Dr Highsmith their veterinarian.
Briefly describe what actions could be taken to assist the Jones’s.
Part 2 All effort would be made to identify a source of medication for Precious if we do nt have the medications with us in the veterinary go bag. Local veterinarians and human sources (MRC, Red Cross ) would be used as a resource.

If vet on staff, go to that individual. If there isn't a vet on staff, someone (logistics, planning, liason or other individual assigned by the IC) would contact local 24 hour vet hospital. Calming the owners down and getting them to remain with their pet is the biggest task.

Their would be a universal form filled out when the aimals arrive with their owners, microchip scan, picture with owner, wrist band and collar using phone number as ID number.
