Section1:GeneralRules(allsports)

A)PersonalandTeamConduct

1. Participantsarerequiredtorepresentthemselvesandtheirrespectiveschoolswithrespectanddignity.

2. AnyteamorindividualinvolvedindestructiveornegativebehavioratPost-SecondaryGames2011eventsorvenues,includinghotelsand

accommodations,willbeejectedfromthetournamentatthediscretionoftheAdvisoryCommittee.SpiritDepositsmayalsobeforfeited.

3. ThePSGCommitteereservestherighttodisqualifyanyteambasedonthebehaviorofanygiventeammemberofthatparticularteam.

4. Alcohol,smokingand/orotherbannedsubstancesarePROHIBITEDandarenottobeconsumedorusedinthedressingroomsoranywhereinthe

gymsorsurroundingareas.Failuretocomplywiththisrulewillresultintheexpulsionoftheplayer(s)fromtheTournamentandpossible

suspensionoftheteam(s).Arefereemayejectaplayer/teamif,athis/herdiscretion,he/shedeemstheplayer/teamtobeundertheinfluenceof

alcoholorillegalsubstances.

B)StartingoftheGame

1. Arepresentativefromeachteam(coach/captain)isrequiredtocheck-inatthescoretablepriortoeachgame.Heretheymustfilloutgamerostersheetsfullyandaccurately.

2. Itisrecommendedthatbothteamsbedressedandreadytoplay10minutesbeforethescheduledstartoftheirgame.Allgamesstartat

thetimepublishedintheschedule.

3. Alateteamwillbegivenagraceperiodoffive(5)minutespastthescheduledstarttime,whichwillbedeductedfromthetotalplaying

time.

4. Anyteamwithouttherequirednumberofplayerswithin5minutesofthescheduledtimewilldefaultthatgame.Ifanyteammemberisindoubtabouttheireligibility,theyshouldspeakwiththeirteamcaptain/coach,theScorekeeper,oranyoneonthePSGcommittee

immediately.

5. Ifbothteamsarelate,bothwilldefaultandnopointswillbeawarded.6. TeamsdefaultingagameforanyreasonwillhavehalftheirSpiritDepositforfeited.

7. Ifplayers,teamofficials,gametimekeeper,etc.showupforagameinaconditionwhichintherefereesopinion,renderthemunabletotake

part,therefereemaydefaultthegame.

8. Withrespecttodangerousplayingconditions,thedecisionofwhethertobeginorcontinueagameissolelythedecisionofthereferees.TheCommissionaireshallrescheduleagamepostponedforanyreasonat

theearliestpossibletimepriortotheendoftheroundrobin.Ifmorethanonehalfremainstobeplayed,thentheentiregameshallbe

replayed.Iflessthanonefullperiodremainstobeplayed,thenonlytheunfinishedportionofthegameshallbeplayed.

C)CoachesandCaptains

1. EachteammusthaveadesignatedTeamCaptainand/orCoach.2. ItistheresponsibilityofeachTeamCaptain/Coachtoensurethatallplayersoftheirteamarefullyeligibletoparticipate.

3. EachteammustidentifytheirTeamCaptainand/orCoachatthebeginningofeachgame.Ifthecaptainisnotpresent,theteamwill

nominateaplayertobeactingcaptainforthatgame.Thispersonwilltakeonalldutiesandresponsibilitiesastheactualcaptain.This

personwillbeidentifiedastheactingcaptainonthescoresheet.

4. ONLYTHECAPTAIN/COACHshouldbespeakingwiththerefereesduringthegametime.Playerswhowishtodiscussanyissuewitha

refereemustasktheCaptainorCoachtospeakontheirbehalf.

5. ItistheresponsibilityofeachTeamCaptain/Coachtofilloutthegamerostersheetfullybeforeeachgameandsignittoaffirmtheeligibility

andinformationofeachplayerontheroster.6. TeamCaptainsandCoachareexpectedtoknowandunderstandthegeneralandspecificrulesfortheirsport.Theymustabidebythem,

andensurethattheirteamisawareofthemandtheirconsequences.Ifthereisanyconfusionregardingtherules,pleasecontactthePSG

committee.

7. ItistheTeamCaptain'sandCoachsdutytoknowhis/herdutiesandresponsibilitiesbeforethegamebegins.

Section2:SpecificRules(DodgeballPrisonStyle)

A)TeamsandPlayers

1. Ateammusthaveaminimumof6playersonthecourtandcanhaveamaximumof8pergame.Ifatanytimeateamhaslessthan6playersforagamethegameisadefault.

2. Itshallbetheresponsibilityoftheawayteamtomakealternatesweaterarrangementswhenthereisaconflictbetweentwoteamcolours.

3. Eachplayermustwearmatchingcolourstobeeligibletoplay.

B)Equipment

1. Nojewellery(unlessproperlytapeddown),non-elasticheadbands,orhardsupportbracesareallowedduringgametime.Captainswillbe

warnedatthebeginningofthegametohavealltheirplayersremovesuchitems.Duringthegame,playersfoundwithsuchitemswillbeaskedto

leaveplayuntiltheitemisremoved.

2. Playersmaynotwearanytypeofglovesasitmaygivethatplayeranunfairadvantagewhencatchingaball.

3. Dodgeballwillbeplayedwith4officialdodgeballs(provided).Eachteamwillbeallowedtowarmupwithtwoofthe4Dodgeballsprovided.

PlayersarenottokickorsitontheDodgeballs.4. Allplayersmusthaveapinnie/jerseywithadefinedandseparatenumberonit,andmustbeincontrastingcolourtotheopposingteam.

5. Propergymattiremustbeworntoparticipate(nojeansorpants/shortswithzippers).Properathleticfootwearforthesportisrequired(Running

shoeswithnon-markingsoles-nostreetshoes,boots,dressshoes,bare

feet,orsandalsetc).

6. Gymbags,shoesandanyotherclothingoritemsmustbekeptoutsideofthegym.

C)GameLengths

1. Allmatcheswillconsistof3games;eachgamewillendafter10minutes.Awarningwillbegiventobothteamswhenoneminuteisremainingin

thegame

2. Ifthematchiscompletedaheadofschedule,theremainderofthetimecanbeusedtoplayfriendly,non-scoredgames.

3. Agameisfinishedwhenalloftheopposingteamsplayersareinjail.

4. Ifthe10-minutesareupafteragame,theteamwiththegreaternumberofplayersstillalivewins.Ifitsatie,additionaltimewillbegivenuntilthereisanunevenamountofplayersonbothsides.

D)Gameplay

1. Teamswillstartthegametouchingthebackwallontheirhalfoftheplayingzone,whichextendstothewallaccordingtoruleD14.Theofficialwillthroweachteamaballatthesametimeandthematchwill

begin(theofficialmayalsochoosetoplacetheballsonthecenterline

--theofficialwilldiscussoptionswiththecaptainsinthepre-gamemeeting).

2. Noheadshotswillbeallowed.Aheadshotisdefinedasdirectcontacttoaplayer'shead.Ifaheadshotis,atthediscretionofthe

official,intentionallycommitted,theplayercommittingtheinfractionwillbegivenawarning.Iftheofficialseesthesameplayerthrowanotherheadshotintentionally,theofficialwillaskthatplayerto

leavethegymforremainderofthegame.Iftheofficialdeterminesthat

theplayerintentionallyusedhis/herheadtoblocktheball,thatplayerwillbeoutasifitdidnothittheirhead.Otherwise,neitherplayeris

outandthehitdoesnotcount.

3. Tomaintaincounter-clockwisemotion,playerstravelingtoandfromjailmustalwaystravelbesidethewallontheirrighthandside.Players

arerequiredtocompletelygotothewallbeforecrossingintothe

othersteamszoneonthewaytoorfromjail.Anyviolationsofthisrulewillresultinawarningfromtheofficial.Followingmultiple

warnings,theoffendingplayerwillbeaskedtoleavethegym.Aswell,thenextgame,theoffendingplayersteamwillplaywithoneplayer

less.Theoffendingplayercanplayinthefollowinggame.Ifateamonlyhas6playersandaplayerisejected,theteamwilldefaultthe

entirematch.

4. Aplayerwhoisruledoutmustgototheirteam'sjailthroughthedesignatedcorridorfollowingruleD5.Asacourtesytotheotherteam

andtopreventanypossibleinjury,playersthatareoutandontheir

waytojailmusttoraiseonehandtoindicatethattheyareout.5. Aballisconsideredlivewhenthrownbyanyplayerinthegame.Theplayerthrowingtheballmaybeeitherintheplayingzoneorinjail.Aballthatbouncesofforglancesoffaplayerintheplayingzone

remainsliveuntilitbecomesdeadfollowingruleD8.

6. Aballisconsidereddeadwheniteitherstrikesanotherballoranythingelseinthegymthatisnotaplayerineitherplayingzone.

Thisincludes,butisnotlimitedto,thewalls,floorandceilingofthe

gym,theofficial,playersineitherjailand,oranyotherobstructionssuchasthebasketballnets.

7. Aplayerthatisstruckbyaliveballisout,unlessthatballiscaughtbyateam-mateintheplayingzonewhileitisstilllive(aliveplayerwhothrowstheballacrossthecenterlinewhichhitsanopposingplayer,

thenremainsintheairbackacrossthecentrelineandiscaughtbytheoriginalplayerorateammateoftheoriginalplayer,theopposing

playerissafe).Aplayerisouteveniftheliveballthatcontactsthemoriginatesfromtheirownteam.Aplayerstruckbyadeadballisnotout.Aballinaplayershandsisconsideredanextensionofthe

playersbodyandthereforeifhe/shedeflectsaballwithoneintheir

hands,itisconsideredahitandtheyareout.

8. Spikingtheballisnotallowedasballsmustbethrowntobelive.Aplayerwhospikestheballgoestojail,andthespikedballisgiventotheopposingteam.

9. Playersmaynotpinchtheoutsideoftheballmaterialtothroworplacefingersinholesintheball.Thispracticewillruintheballsevenmorethanusualwear.Ifplayersarecaughtmultipletimesdoing

this,theywillbeaskedtoleavethegym.

10.Playersarenotallowedtolicktheirhandstoattempttogaingripontheball.Thisisnotsanitaryandspreadsgerms.Ifaplayeriscaught

doingthis,theywillbeissuedawarning.Ifthiscontinuesmultipletimes,theplayerwillbeaskedtoleavethegym.

11.Ifaliveballthrownbyanymemberofopposingteamiscaughtbyaplayerintheplayingzone,oneplayerfromthatteamreturnsfromtheirjail(throughthedesignatedcorridor,asperruleE5).Ifthereare

noplayersintheteamsjail,andtheplayerwhothrewtheballisintheplayingzone,thenthatplayerisout

12.Playersmaynotsteporreachacrossboundarylines(centerlineandjaillines)foranyreason.Aplayerintheplayingzonewhoviolatesthisrulewillberuledout.Playersinjailwhoviolatethisrulewillbe

forcedtoreturncontrolofanyballsobtainedillegallytotheother

team.Aballthatisstillintheaircanbecaughtbyaplayer,aslongastheirarmsaretheonlythingovertheline.Ifaballisontheground

acrossaline,anopposingplayercannotpickthatballup.Thisincludesreachingoverandhittingtheballintoyourzone.Ifaplayer

continuestocrossthelinesafterbeingwarned,thatplayermaybe

givenapenaltyattheofficialsdiscretion.Thisruleappliesto"suicides".Suicidesarenotallowed,ifaplayercommitsasuicidethey

willwarned,anduponmultipleoccurrencestheywillbeasktoleavethegymandreturninthenextmatch-nosubstitutewillbemade.

13.Iftherearenoplayersintheopposingteam'sjail,theboundarylineextendstotherearwall.Ifaplayerisontheirwaytothejail,theyareconsideredinjail,andanyballinthejailareaistoremaintherefor

them.Atthediscretionoftheofficial,playerswillbegivenagrace

periodtovacatethejailareauponthearrivalofthisplayer.

14.Ifaplayeriscalledoutwhileinpossessionofaball,theymustimmediatelyDROPtheballandgodirectlytojail.

15.Nokickingtheballwillbeallowed.Violationsofthisrulemayresultinpenaltiesormoreseriouspunishmentsuchasconductreviews.

16.Ifanofficialblowstheirwhistle,playersinpossessionofaballmustholdthemandstopallplay.Theofficialwillblowtheirwhistleagaintoresumeplayaftertheincidenthasbeenresolved.

17.Playersaretoself-officiatebeinghitandsteppingoverlinesinanhonoursystem.Theofficialsmainroleshallbetoclarifyrules,enforcesafetyandtoresolveanydisagreementsbetweenteams.

18.Bothteamsmustcontinuetotrytoeliminateremainingplayersontheotherteam.Theymaynotsimplythrowballsbackandforthbetweentheplayingzoneandthejailinanattempttowastetime.Iftheofficial

determinesthatateamiswastingtime,theofficialmaydecidetocallplayersoutorawardstheballtotheotherteam,orinthecaseofvery

lopsidednumbersbetweenteams,theofficialmayawardthewinto

theteamnotwastingtime.Priortodoingeitherofthesetwothings,theofficialwillgiveawarningtotheoffendingteam.

19.Thespeedofthegameiscontrolledbytheofficial.Iftheofficialfeelsthataplayerisholdingaballforanextendedperiodoftime,theofficialwillinstructthatplayertothrowtheball.Ifthesameplayer

consistentlyisnotmovingtheballatagoodpace,theofficialmayassessapenalty.ThereisNOTafivesecondruleineffect.

E)Defaults

1. Ifateamfailstoappearwithaminimumofsixplayerswithinfiveminutespastthescheduledstartofthegame,theywilldefaultthegametothe

opposition.

2. Thewinningteaminadefaultedgamewillbegiven2pointsanda2-0victory

3. Theteamawardedthewinforthedefaultedgamemayusetheremainingtimeandfacilityforpracticepurposesorafriendlygame.

4. Ifbothteamsfailtostartontimeandusethefive-minutegraceperiod.Ifbothteamsendupdefaultingthegame,bothteamswillincura1-0loss.

5. DefaultsandSuspensionsmayresultinalossofSpiritDeposit.F)TournamentStandings

1. Inroundrobinplay,standingsshallbedecidedonthefollowingpointsystem:

- 3pointsperwinofthebestof3games.0pointsforaloss.2. Playoffgameswillfollowtheplayoffbracketprovidedandwillbesingleelimination(thebestofthe3gameswinsthematch).
