Stagefright (2016) 22-channel photography installation Marc Marnie (Scotland) NEW COMMISSION In this selection of 300 photographs taken at Southern Fried Festival between 2011 and 2015, the intuitive approach of the musician and photographer Marc Marnie gets to the heart of the music, evoking the essential spirit of the performer, on and off-stage.

2. Ink in Movement (2016) 22-channel drawing installation Claudia Nocentini (Italy/Scotland) NEW COMMISSIONA ‘sketchbook’ of gestural life drawings in which the traditional ink brushwork is substituted by the fast-paced stylus marks in a Zen Brush app. Inspired by the studio practice of the dance duo White & Givan, these 128 portraits in motion capture the grounding quality and weight of intimacy.

3. Breathe (2016) 22-channel video art installation Theresa Pickles (Scotland) NEW COMMISSIONFeaturing snippets of the deeply moving duet Breathe created and performed by Errol White and Davina Givan of the contemporary dance duo of Scotland White & Givan, this work is infused with the mysterious haze and heavy ‘breathing’ of typography, images and animations.

4. The Persistent Wave (2008) 22-channel video art installation Matt Hulse (UK/China)Images of contestants from the classic afternoon quiz show The Wheel of Fortune are re-cycled in a seemingly endless act of smiling and waving hello. Exposing the psychological trauma inflicted on those caught in the glare of today’s reality television.

5. Cantus (2008) 22-channel video art installation Alec Finlay (Scotland) A seemingly endless circle poem inspired by the falling rain, John Cage’s experience in his cabin at Stony Point, New York and Arvo Part’s Cantus. In Memorium of Benjamin Britten

6. Entertainment (2010) 22-channel video art installation Joanna Bastos (Potugal)Testing our understanding of the contested cultural industry term ‘entertainment’, the artist strings a chain of ‘motorway alert signs’ using words and colours which relate directly to the open public site of the artspace itself, to the act of exhibiting, to the community, the city, the county and the country.

7. Sonorous Forms (2006) 22-channel video art installation Catt Lee Marr (UK) READ MORE A composition in C Major for cello, water and 22 movements where each screen is assigned a musical note. Featuring Eilidh Glynn (cello).

8. The Moon Landing Programme (2007) 22-channel video art installation Wang YuYang (China) READ MORE By juxtapposing two scenes - one authentic and the other a re-make of Neil Armstrong’s dramatic step on the Moon - this work critiques the spectacular and theatrical elements of historical memory while exposing the inner workings of media preservation.

9. Covers (2005) single channel 5 min | no sound Janek Schaefer (UK) The portrait of the sound artist ‘drawn’ using the cover sleeves of his own extensive vinyl record collection.

10. Influx (2006) single channel 5 min | no sound Joanna Kane (Scotland) Electrifying dance routines and neon silhouettes recorded in front of the artist’s bespoke ‘magic mirror’. Featuring Michael Popper (dance).

11. Su Misura (Tailored) single channel 1:30 min | with sound Augenblick Collective (Italy) NEW ACQUISITIONA tailor and his wife. Then she comes in. Suddenly, the motif on the dress takes the form of a movement that is tailor-made. The rhythmic gestures of the craft become a dance. First International Award at Perth Screen Dance 2016.

12. End of the Block single channel 5:30 min loop | with sound Kyle Stevenson (UK) NEW ACQUISITIONCombining live dance with stickman animation, this film illustrates the harsh realities of trying to go beyond your postcode. Featuring Omari ‘Motion’ Carter (choreography) and The Motion Dance Collective (dance). First UK Award at Perth Screen Dance 2016. Suitable for 15+

13. Voyage of No Return (2009) single channel 15 min | with sound Ergin Cavesouglu (Bulgaria/Turkey/UK) This classic father and son tale, shot on location in Oban, unravels the notion of the harbour city which witnesses more departures than homecomings.

14. The Time it Takes (2013) single channel 11 min | with sound Katrina McPherson + Simon Fildes (Scotland) Shot on location on the Isle of Sout Uist, this poetic dance on camera film prompts us to reflect on the time it takes to live, to grow, to love.

The Famous Collaboration (2013) Marshmallow Laser Feast (UK) + Studio Roso (Denmark/UK) 1542 responses to the question, What would you like to be famous for? have been laser-cut into copper strips forming a spiral inspired by whisky stills.

2a. Pac-Dots (2014) Theresa Pickles (Scotland) A gentle tribute to the Old Dame of Pop Art Yayoi Kusama (born 1929) for whom the signature red polka dots signify energy and eternity.

3a. Icarus and Other Fallen Angels (2013) Henna Asikainen (Finland/UK) A triptych of monoprints exploring the poetics of our troubled relationship with nature evoking the ancient Greek myth of Icarus.

4a. Residents (2014) Anne Binckebanck (Germany/Scotland) Created with older people in West Lothian, this photographic triptych imbues our notions of ageing with the sensitivity and glamour of studio portraiture.

5a. Wow | Key | Fluctuat (2014) Martine Foltier Pugh (France/Scotland) This collage tryptych on paper is about the power to transform our past and turn commonplace everyday rejects into something worth revisiting.

6a. Pac-Man at Large (2014) Theresa Pickles (Scotland) In this suite of artist’s photographic inkjet prints on board the classic Pac-Man video game becomes a metaphor for our dependency on digital devices when intearcting with our natural and urban environment.

7a. Himalaya: Changing Landscapes (2015) Alton Byers (USA) A suite of 14 before and after panoramas of glaciers and Alpine landscapes in the Mt Everest region of Nepal taken six decades apart highlights the dramatic reduction of Himalayan ice. Featuring photographic cartography by Erwin Schneider (Austria).
