Riyesh Nath was a Youth Team Member on Councilman John Liu's Youth Action Team(JLYAT) in our 2009 Summer High School Political Internship Program. Riyesh was a reliable;committed and efficient maturing leader in our effort to help make the community we live in thebest it can be.
Riyesh participated in a team that performed numerous tasks to support our efforts to improve theneighborhood here in Queens. Together, they conducted neighborhood surveys, carried outcommunity outreach projects such as voter registration drives and civic events promoting citizenparticipation in the local political process, and assisted in promoting quality of life initiatives suchas street clean ups. Through the voter registration drives, the JLYAT sought to increase theopportunities from all people, especially those from underrepresented groups here in New YorkCity. Together they amassed thousands of new registered voters.
The Summer 2009 Political Internship's success has been the result ofa team effort in whichRiyesh has made a valuable contribution. We would like to acknowledge that Riyesh devoted 172hours of time and energy this summer that we in the community are proud to recognize. Riyeshhas been self-motivated and will be continuing to grow to be a future leader. We believe that theentire team has gained a lot of civic pride and experience. We look forward to working with themmore in the future as a fellow team builder.
