Scene 1: Ext Daytime,‘The School Playground’

A teenager named "SCARLET” (19) is seen sitting in the middle ofan emptyschool playground.She has short blonde hairwhich hasbeen tangled and therefore covers the majority of herface. Scarletis slim and long looking girl and is wearing plaindark clothes. Her pale face is covered in several bruises andstains of blood.Her face looks far away almost as though shewere dreaming.However she looks troubled and as though shewas in great danger.

We hear operatic chamber like music as we are shown differentangles of Scarlet sitting in the middle of the playground. Theweather is gloomy which reinforce the feeling of danger.

Scene 2: INT Daytime,‘The School Classroom’

A school teacher named ‘MR PHILIPS’ (49) is standing in front of aclassroom full of students. There is a blackboard behind him inwhich there is a spider diagram centered around the word ‘drugs’.He is medium height and is wearing a dark coloured shirt withjeans. He wears glasses and has Grey hair.

SCARLET is sitting at a desk directly opposite ‘MR PHILIPS’ next totwo other girls either side of her. Scarlet’s short blonde hair isneat and pretty and she is wearing a pink top with several piecesof jewelery. The other two girls are wearing slightly darker coloursmaking Scarlet stand out. The three girls are whispering andlaughing- clearly not paying attention to the class.

ScriptMR PHILIPS: “Scarlet?”

SCARLET: “What?”

MR PHILIPS: “Scarlet could you please repeat for me what I was just saying to the restof the class?”

SCARLET: ‘’Oh… was it something about you taking drugs…you know round the back ofthe School?”

The school bell rings and the students begin to pack away their belongings. MRPhilips looks surprisingly unaffected by what Scarlet had just said in fact he has hintsof a smirk on his face.

MR PHILIPS: “Scarlet detention 12.30 ye? Cool see you then.’

MR Philips winks at Scarlet. We hear a rock song begin to play as we see the studentsexit the classroom. The scene fades to black and the title of film ‘Playground’ is shownon the screen in a child like white font on a black background.
