The course has involved several presentations, both group and individual, report writing, and learning to use specialist software, with a focus on acquiring new skills. Assessments have developed my research, planning, time-management and analytical skills, as well as my ability to think critically, and work within a team. 2007 Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth I College, Leicester A-Levels: Economics- A, Geography- B, Physics- D AS-Levels: General Studies- C 2005 Beauchamp College, Leicester GCSE: Eight A-C Grades including English and Maths WORK EXPERIENCE Freelance Photographer (July 2007-Ongoing) Covering events such as balls and conferences, delivering high quality photography within a short timeframe, commissioning assistant photographers and dealing with printing labs. I have a growing number of regular clients, and have had several photographs published in the local and national press, including The Guardian. 1834 Medical School Anniversary, Newcastle University (Summer 2009) Responsible for a timeline for the Medical School Anniversary celebrations, gathering dates and information from a range of sources. The timeline is being used by the University and city on websites, banners and leaflets, and forms an integral part of the celebrations. I sourced photographs for a special edition of Arches, an alumni magazine, with a readership of 20,000 internationally. Photo Editor of The Courier, Newcastle University (September 2008-July 2009) Newcastle University’s student newspaper, with a print run of 4,000 copies weekly, and a readership of 12,000, and at 44 pages, is one of the largest student publications in the country. I was responsible for the photographs and the photographers and coordinated around 70 photographers, assigning tasks, making decisions, and covering stories myself. A weekly print run demanded tight deadlines, and liaising with other sub-editors has developed my communication, leadership, and team working skills.

MJ Personnel, Leicester (June 2007-April 2009) Working for a silver service catering agency, working in many different situations, and a broad range of locations, from hospitality suites to county fairs. I had to adapt, and quickly build up rapport. WHSmith, Leicester Train Station (Summer 2007) In sole charge of an outlet, ensuring magazines, books and newspapers were up to date, checking stock and pricing as well as providing a high level of customer service. ACHIEVEMENTS AND POSITIONS OF RESPONSIBILITY Sports Photography Scholarship (March 2009-June 2010) Awarded a photography scholarship, from Sport Universities of North East England. This scholarship is to allow me to further my interest in sports photography. My aim is to capture the personal achievements of people who are often not praised, and to get hard to reach communities involved in wider society. Newcastle University Photographic Society (President 2009-2010) As president, I have re-branded the society, making it more sociable, with an emphasis on teaching new skills and group activities. I am currently organising a fund raising event for the society, with the proceeds going to a local charity. This helped develop my skills, enabling me to meet other likeminded people in the university. Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (2006) Developed skills in orienteering, team working, meeting deadlines and responding to unforeseen circumstances. ADDITIONAL SKILLS IT skills: Fluent in Windows and Macintosh Operating Systems. Experienced user of all

programs within Microsoft Office, Photoshop, InDesign, SPSS, Arcmap, SketchUp and Aperture (Mac).

Website design: Familiar with basic HTML, I have built a website and blog for my photography, and am currently going through the process of creating a new website.
