INFORMATION
DIRECTORY OF SELF-INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALSUSED IN COMMUNITY COLLEGES
Publication of this enlarged second edition of the Directory of Self-Instructional Materials is a clear indication of several instructional develop-ments in the community college. First, there is a universal trend in communitycolleges toward seeking ways of improving instruction. Second, self-instructional methods and materials are being used in more colleges and sub-ject matter areas than any other type of instructional innovation. Third, in-stitutions are committing more of their resources to the development of new in-structional methods.
Specific information about the materials may be obtained by contacting theauthor directly. Included on each page are the author, institution (address andphone number), and the number and titles of the individual packages. There isan exception to this format. Mt. San Jacinto College has such an extensive listof materials that it is listed by institution.
As with the first edition, the UCLA Danforth Junior College Program and theERIC Clearinghouse for Junior Colleges have cooperated in publisning thisedition. Credit for assistance in compiling the data and editing the manuscriptinvolves many people on the Clearinghouse staff, especially Kary Arimoto. As ameans of making the information uniform and for the sake of brevity, we havetaken the liberty of editing the copy and assume all responsibility for the subjectmatter groupings.
