INTRODUCTIOW
Early in 1969, the Sacramento State College Library began publi-cation of a series of bibliographies designed to aid our patronsto make more effective use of existing resource materials. Thefirst publication in series was entitled; Viidano Bibliography:Selected Materials on Americans of Mexican Descent. That listcontained some 300 items. The present revised edition contains1,000 items, reflecting the efforts of the Library staff to acquirerelevant materials in a specialized area of considerable interestto many in higher education today. This revised list does notrepresent all of the Library's resources in this area, but only asurvey as of Spring, 1969.
Mrs. Linda Schramko, formerly Assistant Education and PsychologyReference Librarian, was responsible for the revised edition. The staff regrets very much that the relocation of her husband'swork forced her resignation from the staff shortly after com-pleting this bibliography.
At the present time, three additional bibliographies in the newseries have been issued and others are in preparation. Students, faculty and staff members may obtain copies at the Library'sInformation Desk or in the several reference departments. Com-ments and suggestions from users are always welcome.

FOREWORD.
This bibliography has been produced as a service to the studentsand faculty at Sacramento State College. It brings together inone list a selection of the materials available in the Librarythat deal with the American of Mexican descent. By no means doesthis list contain the entire Library holdings on the subject--itsimply reflects something of the scope of the collection as ofthe Spring of 1969. The Library has acquired much more materialsince this list was compiled. The Guide to Further Informationat the end of the bibliography indicates some of the sources avail-able for finding further materials concerning the Mexican - American.
The present bibliography is a revised and expanded version of,anearlier bibliography produced by librarians John Liberty, PearlSpayde, and myself. While the first list showed primarily books, the revision air° includes periodical articles, master's theses, doctoral dissertations, and microfiche in the Educational ResourcesInformation Center collection. This list contains not only entriesconcerned directly with the Mexican-American, but also entries thathave an indirect bearing or that provide some pertinent backgroundinformation.
The list is arranged by broad subject categories, with a moredetailed subject index at the end. Call numbers are indicatedin the margin to the left of the entry; in the case of periodicals, the reference room in which they are located is shown. Theacronym, ERIC, denotes the Educational Resources InformationCenter files: this collection is housed in the Education-PsychologyReference Room. Some items are available in more than one placein the library; such entries have a note giving the second location.
Particular thanks go to the students who compiled the initialentries for this work Anita Aguirre, Laura Llano, ElizabethMedina, Kay Coleman, and Ablasha Hunji, all of whom showed greatpersonal interest in the project, and without whose servicesthis bibliography would not now exist. Cherie Finch was thepatient typist, who also--fortunately--knew a thing or two aboutbibliographic form. Sharron Godbois prepared the productionstencil. Thanks, too, to all other student assistants who werepressed into service at various times. And, of course, the moralsupport of library colleagues has been much appreciated.
