Editorial The Vigilance Awareness Week was observed recently and we all pledged to continuously strive to bring about integrity and transparency in all our activities and eradicate corruption in all spheres of life. Corruption, as we are aware, is one of the biggest problems facing the Nation today. There is a lot of hue and cry about eradicating corruption and building transparency and accountability. The media is flooded with news on scams, bribes, influence peddling, black money etc. But how many of us are actually taking a step back and questioning ourselves "What am I

doing to eradicate corruption?" It's time to introspect and consciously work towards uprooting this evil from our society. Festivities continue to take the centre stage with the celebration of Diwali, Chhath Puja, Eid al-Adha and Guru Nanak

BL Updates

Recently Logistics Services (LS), Vizag successfully completed a prestigious project entrusted by Eastern

Naval Command. LS packed and transported a 21-seater Aircraft from Eastern Naval Command, Vizag to

HAL, Kanpur for its maintenance; a first of its kind venture for both Eastern Naval Command and LS-Vizag.

Every part of the aircraft was dismantled, packed and transported by road to Kanpur in hydraulic trailers in

the first week of October, 2011. Kudos to the LS, Vizag Team!

SBU: Tea is now an ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 22000 accredited unit. This is indeed a significant step in the quality management journey of the SBU.

Glimpses from the City of Joy

The Victoria Memorial, is a memorial building dedicated to Queen Victoria, who was the

Queen of UK and Empress of India. It currently serves as a museum containing a large

collection of memorabilia relating to Queen Victoria and the British presence in India. The

Memorial also contains a Royal Gallery housing a number of portraits of Queen Victoria

and Prince Albert and paintings illustrating their lives. It is an autonomous organization

within the Government of India's Ministry of Culture. The foundation stone of the

memorial was laid in the year 1906 and the building was inaugurated in 1921. Architect

Sir William Emerson designed the memorial plan. The design of the structure represents

a fusion of British and Mughal architecture. White Makrana marbles were used in the

construction of the Memorial which is 338 feet by 228 feet and rises to a height of 184

feet. The Victoria Memorial stands enclosed within 64 acres of blooming gardens.
