
The Disable Welfare Trust of India is an NGO relentlessly working for the education, training & rehabilitation of physically challenged “Divyangs” since 1997. The barrier free institute offers a basket of services like schooling from Grade 1 to Grade 12th, BCA college, I.T.I. , Skill development centre, Printing Press, Hostel for boys & girls, Library, Physiotherapy Centre, Rehabilitation Centre, Marriage Bureau, Employment Guidance Centre, Medical intervention& surgeries, all free of cost, for the Divyang beneficiaries.

The institute also provides free commutation to students, most of whom hail from the slums, uniforms, text books, notebooks all stationeries & mid-day meal, free of cost, to nearly 400 beneficiaries. This institute is a finest example of individual & corporate philanthropy which has been the backbone of the growth achieved by the institute. More than 15000 beneficiaries, without distinction of caste, creed & color, have till now availed the basket of services provided by the institute.

Dr. Jagdish Patel, Mayor of Surat has made an outstanding statement for the Trust. He says “ The fact that Surat City is devoid of Divyang begging on the streets is wholly due to the commendable contribution by Disable Welfare Trust of India.”


The Talim Centre run by the Trust imparts various soft skills, free of cost, to the beneficiaries whereby they can earn a livelihood.

This a Govt certified one year course in Desktop Publishing after Grade 10th run by the Trust, free of cost for Divyangs.

The Prabhu BCA College run by the Trust is only for the physically challenged beneficiaries & is also one of its kinds in India, that offers such a program free of cost. All the 12th pass outs from the school seek admission in this under graduate program.

The school run under the aegis of the Trust is from Grade -1 to Grade 12 & follows the state board curriculum. Special Educators who are well experienced take great care in mentoring the Divyang beneficiaries & give their very best for their holistic development, free of cost.

The Disable Welfare Trust of India is a Charitable Trust registered under the BPT Act 1950. The Trust is also registered under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of Gujarat & the Department of Education, Govt. of Gujarat as well as the Ministry of Labour & Employment.

This in house centre manufactures customized artificial limbs & prosthesis which are given free of cost to the beneficiaries. The centre also provides free of cost wheel chairs, tricycles, crutches & required aids & appliances.

A trained & qualified Physiotherapist takes care of the Physiotherapy needs of the physically challenged beneficiaries. The treatment improves the mortar skills of the beneficiaries. The centre also renders physiotherapy treatment to beneficiaries on whom corrective surgeries have been conducted as part of their rehabilitation.

The Trust runs a Hostel wherein the outstation Divyang girls & boys are given free of cost lodging & boarding facilities.

The Divyang beneficiaries are trained & mentored in Offset Printing Technology to earn a respectful livelihood & live a life with dignity.

The centre also holds camp for Cerebral Palsy beneficiaries under the able guidance of Pediatric Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Taral Nagda, who is a founder of Institute of Pediatric Disorders & consultant to various Hospitals in Mumbai. Cerebral Palsy Children under the advanced surgeries like Myofacial release, growth modulation, botox therapy & corrective deformity surgeries. Those beneficiaries who are found fit to be operated upon are identified & free of cost surgeries are conducted by Dr. Taral Nagda at Mumbai.


The Trust has received many awards for its relentless pursuits for the welfare of the Divyang beneficiaries. The Trust has achieved the Best Employer Award from the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Govt. of Gujarat & the Best Institute award from the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Govt. of India.

The Trust provides free of cost transportation for the beneficiaries to commute from home to school & back. Most of the beneficiaries hail from the slums.

The Divyang News Channel is a recent initiative by the Trust. The vision of this digital media is to showcase the inert talent of the Divyangs (differently abled / specially abled) to the society at large. It is also a platform from where the Divyangs can gather information on job opportunities, various schemes of the Government and understand about their rights & privileges.

The Hospital is an integral part of the Trust which provides free of cost medicines & also conducts corrective & general surgeries on the Divyang beneficiaries, free of cost.

The Centre organizes campus interviews for the BCA students & sees to it that the entire pass out students get a confirmed job for their livelihood. The fact that the BCA College gives 100% result is a great morale booster to the Trust.

The bureau matches the aspiring young Divyang beneficiaries & also arranges their marriage in the campus premise of the Trust. All the expenses of the marriage are borne by the Trust.

The visionary & President of the Trust Kanubhai Tailor who is a paraplegic himself & who ambulates on a wheelchair, is a proud recipient of the coveted civil meritorious Padma Shri Award bestowed upon him in 2011 by the President of India. Apart from this Kanubhai Tailor has also been felicitated with numerous National & International Awards.
