This document identifies the actual organic units subordinated to panzer and panzer grenadier

divisions. While the original document does not indicate the effective date of this data, it seems

representative of around 1944. The numbers in the chart identify the unit number. As an example,

the first panzer grenadier division listed is the 3.PGD. Its two grenadier regiments are the 8th and the

29th. The reconnaissance battalion is the 103rd; the panzer battalion is also the 103rd and so on. In the

panzer division listing, the underlined grenadier regiment numbers indicate that they had an armored

battalion. On the panzer regiment column after the regiment number, there is a row for each of the

battalions which indicate the type of vehicle each of the battalions were assigned: the IV representing

the Pz.Kpfw.IV and the V being the Panther. While the first battalion in a 1944 panzer division

typically fielded the Panther you will note that there are two divisions that have the Pz.IV and the

Panther battalions reversed.
