begins at ground zero with in-

house design and fabrication of custom tooling and

molds, including low-cost aluminum mold inserts.

Once we’ve created the molds and completed a test run,

we begin full-line production using a variety of materials.

Our state-of-the-art facilities can mold UHMW-PE, Nylon,

urethane, high density polyethylene, polypropylene,

and other engineered industrial resins into virtually

any shape. From entry-level runs of specialty items

to large runs of conventional components, DPI is an

excellent choice for custom injection

molded products.

Complete urethanecasting capability.

Urethane is a remarkable material that can be

cast into shapes, bonded to rolls and wheels, or

poured into plates of varying sizes and thicknesses.

Urethane can be tailored to specific hardnesses,

and it bonds to virtually any metal. When it comes

to versatility it’s in a class all its own. Needless to say,

creating urethane components and sheets is entirely

different from working with traditional plastics. At

DPI, we’ve been working with urethane for years,

and have developed proprietary processes and

protocol for using it. Our urethane parts will meet your

specifications not only for shape

and size, but also

for hardness. In fact, we can

cast urethane components in

durometers from 40A to 75D.

Urethane is endlessly variable. That’s what makes it such a versatile material. Our experienced chemical engineers can formulate urethane to suit virtually any appropriate applica-tion – impact resistant, energy absorbing, sound dampening, high wear, and more.

molding capabilities, DPI also offers

a full range of plastics fabrication

and machining. Inside our 25,000-square-

foot facility, you’ll find CNC mills, lathes and routers,

along with precise cutting, drilling, welding, bending and

equipment to meet your

In addition to our custom

capabilities, we also stock

and distribute a wide range

of materials, resins and

components. These “off the shelf”

materials are engineered to a variety of specifications

and come in all standard shapes: sheets, rods, tubes,

strips and profiles. Typically, our in-stock materials

include UHMW-PE (natural, reprocessed, cross-linked,

ceramic-filled, steel-filled), Nylon (natural, Molly-filled,

oil-filled, glass-filled), Delrin, Teflon, Phenolic, urethane,

vinyl and more.

Diversified Plastics Self-Aligning Bearing Inserts are interchangeable with all standard Pillow Block, Tap Base, Take Up or Flange Bearing Housing. These inserts are excellent in the food and packaging industry and are ideal for replacing rusty roller or ball bearing inserts in corrosive or wet applications and require minimal maintenance. Many FDA accepted materials are available to choose from and “custom” sizes are available.

Plastic chains were developed primarily for low-power transmission applications. The chains can be used with steel sprockets or plastic sprockets, and are suitable for relatively wide speed ranges.

These drive components can be especially useful in harsh chemical, moisture and temperature environments. The chains can incorporate additives for self-lubrication, also usable where cleanliness is important, as in food-processing machinery, computer equipment.

Chains are made with links that snap together so that each link in effect becomes a master link. Various attachments can be used with plastic chains and sprockets. These attachments can be fastened to the chain or sprocket, or molded integrally.

Plastic chains are available as off the shelf items in 1/4-in., 3/8-in. and 1/2-in. pitches. Non-standard sizes and shapes including chain with various types of attachments have been developed for special applications.

Plastic chains and sprockets are generally about one-fifth to one-tenth as heavy as equivalent metal components. They are relatively quiet and are non-conductive and nonmagnetic.

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICSHorsepower ratings have not been determined for all sizes of plastic chains. However, the chain performance data chart shows the results for breaking strength of the representative chain sizes. Working strength is often figured as 1/3 of the average breaking strength.

Elongations vs. time tests have shown that the major portion of elongation or stretch occurs almost immediately after the load is applied; 90 percent of elongation takes place within the first 15 minutes of operation. Based on total length, subsequent elongation is less than 0.3 percent. When the load is removed, the chain recovers as a function of time and material. In general, maximum recovery is achieved within 30 minutes of load removal.

Solid Torque™ drives are engineered to withstand loads that are typically too much for standard plastic sprockets, gears and timing belt pulleys. Inserting a stainless steel hexagonal insert effectively increases the load rating of the unit by spreading the force of the torque over a much larger area.

Tests performed indicate that the effective load that the unit with a Solid Torque™ will endure before failure is at least 3 times greater than when using a standard plastic key design.

IndustrIal auger applIcatIon

Hog fuel Screw Auger: Customer’s auger is buried under hog fuel pile 24/7. Even after experimenting with special alloys and spray on products, they were only getting eight months life. Diversified applied its patented flighting and main beam cover system at a fraction of the cost of a new unit. This screw ran a full two years (24 months) tripling the run life and was rebuildable after the two years. Diversified also lined this pit (previously raw concrete) with UHMW. With the reduced coefficient of friction of both screw and floor, energy requirements were reduced by over 50% (results were tracked by a chart recorder placed at the m.c.c.).

Boiler Feed Screws: Customer was replacing feed screws and feed screw pans every two years. The 1⁄2” thick steel pans would be worn to as little as .050” thickness in that time. Diversified applied its patented process to the augers and supplied liners for the pans. Original bin is now four years old and still running. This customer has since re-done its other five bins with the same results.

Boiler Feed Screw Bearings: These 3-15⁄16” four bolt flange bearings replaced Rex Double Row spherical bearings. They require no lubrication, have provided long life, and in the event screw maintenance is needed, are easily removed from Stub Shafts. The old roller bearings would corrode and seize and would have to be cut off of the shaft.

Sprockets can be ordered with straight bore, bore with keyway and set screw, or bored to run on static sleeve bushing. Our 700 series molded sprockets are available in UHMW-PE, Nylon, Polyurethane, and Glass-Filled Co-Polymer. Our unique ability to combine more than one material in a single sprocket allows us to utilize the desirable characteristics of each of the engineered plastics to maximize service life. All of our sprockets are corrosion resistant, abrasion resistant and as little as 1/6th the weight of their metal counterparts.*

IndustrIal auger applIcatIonHog fuel Screw Auger: Customer’s auger is buried under hog fuel pile 24/7. Even after experimenting with special alloys and spray on products, they were only getting eight months life. Diversified applied its patented flighting and main beam cover system at a fraction of the cost of a new unit. This screw ran a full two years (24 months) tripling the run life and was rebuildable after the two years. Diversified also lined this pit (previously raw concrete) with UHMW. With the reduced coefficient of friction of both screw and floor, energy requirements were reduced by over 50% (results were tracked by a chart recorder placed at the m.c.c.).

Boiler Feed Screws: Customer was replacing feed screws and feed screw pans every two years. The 1⁄2” thick steel pans would be worn to as little as .050” thickness in that time. Diversified applied its patented process to the augers and supplied liners for the pans. Original bin is now four years old and still running. This customer has since re-done its other five bins with the same results.

Boiler Feed Screw Bearings: These 3-15⁄16” four bolt flange bearings replaced Rex Double Row spherical bearings. They require no lubrication, have provided long life, and in the event screw maintenance is needed, are easily removed from Stub Shafts. The old roller bearings would corrode and seize and would have to be cut off of the shaft.

UHMW Auger Trough Liners are preformed to fit your existing pan. Their low coefficient of friction can reduce or in some cases eliminate the need for hanger bearings. They are abrasion resistant, noncorroding, and provide a non-stick surface.

SAND-SLURRY TEST FOR ABRASION RESISTANCEThis test can be used to determine the relative abrasion resistance of 1900 ultrahigh molecular weight (UHMW) polymer, as well as other materials. The test produces a scratching, low-stress type of abra-sive action.

Summary of Test MethodA specimen of the material to be evaluated is rotated simultaneously with a steel control specimen in a sand slurry to produce accelerated wear. The resulting wear, or abrasion, is measured as weight loss. This measurement is converted to a volumetric loss of the material by calculation from the material density.

The volumetric loss of material relative to the steel control (based on an assigned value of 100 for steel) is called abrasion index (AI). A value lower than 100 denotes a higher wear resistance than that of steel. The lower the index value, the more resistant the material is to abrasion.

credIt & returned goods polIcyAll returned material and/or credits must reference a Return Goods Authorization Number (RGA#). You may obtain an RGA# by contacting your Sales Representative. In some instances it may be necessary for the Diversified Plastics Representative to inspect material prior to an RGA# being issued. An RGA# authorizes the return, but may not result in a credit. To assist the various departments within your company in handling any discrepancies or damaged goods and to allow Diversified Plastics, Inc. to maintain proper accountability, we have established the following guidelines for these different circumstances that may occur:

I. Invoice AdjustmentsNotify your Sales Representative of any invoicing discrepancies or adjustments before issuing debit memos.

II. Incorrect ShipmentsNotify your Sales Representative of any incorrect shipments (i.e., shortages, over-shipments, incorrect materials) within five (5) working days of receipt of shipment.

III. Damaged Goods/PackagingReport to your Sales Representative within twenty-four (24) hours any visible damage (i.e., obvious part damage, skids, banding, etc.) observed upon receipt of shipment. Damaged shipments must be signed for with exception and damages clearly identified on the bill of lading.

IV. Manufacturing DefectsAny defective material (i.e., out of tolerance - length, width, gauge) must be reported to Sales Representative within ninety (90) days after receipt of shipment.

V. Collect ReturnsDiversified Plastics, Inc. will specify carrier on all collect returns.

VI. Final DecisionFinal credit decision will be made after the return has been evaluated by Diversified Plastics, Inc. Notification of that decision will be given within thirty (30) days.

VII. Restocking FeeA twenty percent (20%) restocking fee and/or prepaid freight may apply in certain instances.

VIII. Product GuaranteeDiversified Plastics, Inc. has a 100% return guarantee on all standard stock products. All custom products will be guaranteed only by what is negotiated at the time of purchase and acceptance of conditions must be in writing. Anything not expressed in writing at the time of purchase cannot be assumed to be eligible for warranty consideration. If a product proves to be under guarantee, Diversified Plastics, Inc. will pay for the return of the product and upon receiving will repair or re-issue correct product. The customer is responsible for returning product within 30 days after receiving a Return Goods Authorization Number (RGA#). The customer is also responsible for packaging product well and placing on adequate skid or box as to avoid damage in transit.

The Seller warrants that the Goods and/or Service will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of three months from date of their initial use or six months respectively from delivery, whichever is the first to expire.

The sole obligation of Diversified Plastics, Inc. under this Limited Warranty shall be to repair or replace or have its Authorized Distributor repair or replace any defective products within 45 business days of a complaint communicated in writing to Diversified Plastics, Inc. Except as expressly provided herein, Diversified Plastics shall not be liable for the breach of any warranty, express or implied, including without limitation any warranty of merchantability of fitness for a particular purpose, or for any damages or other liability arising out of or in connection with customers’ use of supplier products or Diversified Plastics or the authorized distributor designing, manufacturing or selling supplied products. In no event shall Diversified Plastics be liable for direct, special, incidental or consequential damages, including without limitation lost sales or profit, lost production or output, injury to property or reputation, or any other damages whether arising in contract or tort or otherwise (whether or not attributable to the fault or negligence of Diversified Plastics). Under no circumstances shall any recovery of any kind against Diversified Plastics be greater in amount than the price of the products and/or service to the end user.

NOTE: Products that have been modified and/or altered from their original state without expressed, written consent of a Diversified Plastics representative shall void this and any other warranty written or expressed. All returned materials shall be evaluated by Diversified Plastics engineering and sales staff prior to credit and rework. Product being returned for evaluation must include a valid “Returned Goods Authorization” number (RGA#).
