Eric Grannon Ranked in Chambers USA
Eric Grannon, a partner at White & Case’s D.C. office hasbeen ranked for antitrust by Chambers USA. Chambersdescribed him as “an up-and-coming practitioner at thefirm,” emphasizing his experience in “appellate antitrustwork,” including his recent role as lead counsel for twopharmaceutical companies in the U.S. Supreme Court’sFTC v. Actavis decision on “reverse payment” settlementsof pharmaceutical patent litigation.
Kyrus Freeman Named to Leadership of Greater Washington Class of 2015
Kyrus L. Freeman, a partner in the Washington DC office
of Holland & Knight LLP, has been selected as a member
of Leadership Greater Washington for the Class of
2015. Over a 10-month period, the selected senior-level
community leaders meet regularly to discuss a range of
regional issues concerning Maryland, Northern Virginia and
the District of Columbia. Kyrus is a partner of the firm's
Land Use and Government Team and advises property
owners and residential, commercial, hotel and mixed-use
developers in the regulatory, zoning and land use review
and approval processes. He also serves as the chair of the
Diversity Committee in the D.C. office.
Eric Fikry Receives the Professional Achievement Award, from APALA-NJ
Eric Fikry, a partner in Blank Rome’s Princeton, NJ office is
this year’s recipient of the Asian Pacific American Lawyers
Association of New Jersey Professional Achievement Award.
This award is presented to Asian Pacific American lawyers for
their professional accomplishments, contributions to the law
firm or company where they work, as well as in recognition of
DPN Members Named to Lawyers of Color 2014 Hot List
firm or company where they work, as well as in recognition of
service to the New Jersey Asian Pacific American legal com-
munity. Mr. Fikry was recently elected to APALA-NJ’s Board
of Directors, and previously served as an officer. He also
serves as co-chair of the APALA-NJ’s South Jersey Liaison
Committee.
Robert Edwards Moves to Kilpatrick Townsend
Rob Edwards, most recently Executive Director with JP Mor-
gan’s Global Commodities Group, has moved back to private
practice in Kilpatrick Townsend’s DC Office. Prior to JP Mor-
gan, Edwards was Deputy General Counsel for Energy Policy
at the U.S. Department of Energy for two years. Before he
accepted the appointment at DOE, Edwards practiced law for
over 20 years with AmLaw firms in the DC area.
New York City Bar Diversity and Inclusion Champions Awards and Gala
On Wednesday, June 18th, the New York City Bar Association celebrated 30 years of di-
versity and inclusion efforts and honored its 2014 Diversity and Inclusion Champions. New
York City Corporation Counsel Zachary Carter provided the keynote address, and the City
Bar premiered a video that showcases the rich history of efforts. The Dinner was generous-
ly sponsored by Signatory law firms and companies to the Statement of Diversity Princi-
ples. The 2014 Champion Award Winners are: Michelle J. Anderson, Dean, CUNY School
of Law; Joseph M. Drayton, partner, Cooley LLP; Natalia Martin, co-founder, "Cafecitos
Network"; and Karla G. Sanchez, co-founder, "Cafecitos Network." Posthumously honored
were Thomas E. Heftler and Michael W. Oshima. Morgan Stanley Legal & Compliance Di-
vision received the City Bar’s first Diversity and Inclusion Pipeline Champion Award.
Supreme Court Relies on Breckenridge Brief in Cell Phone Search Case
The Supreme Court decided Riley v. California and United
States v. Wurie June 25, and unanimously held that the
search incident to arrest doctrine does not allow law enforce-
ment officers to search data on cell phones without a warrant.
In addressing Faraday bags, a crucial element of the case, the
Court relied on and cited an amicus brief on behalf of criminal
law professors prepared by Breckenridge, associate Tara A.
Brennan, and Professor Adam Gershowitz of William and

Laura Wilkinson Elected to Legal Momentum Board of Directors
Laura A. Wilkinson, a partner in Weil Gotshal’s DC office, was
elected First Vice Chair of the board of directors for Legal Mo-
mentum – the Women’s Legal Defense and Education
Fund. Legal Momentum is a nonprofit organization founded in
1970 to advance the rights of women across the nation by using
the power of the law and creating innovative public policy in
three broad areas: economic justice, freedom from gender-
based violence, and equality under the law.

Join Ben Wilson on Wednesday, July 9, for a “Meet & Greet” Reception for our friend Alfre-
da Robinson, who is a candidate for National Bar Association Treasurer. She has also

DPN Members Named to Lawyers of Color 2014 Hot List
Alia Derrick, an associate with Jackson Walker, LLP; Alicia Wilson, an associate with Gor-
don Feinblatt in Baltimore, and Alvin Fletcher Benton Jr., an associate in the Dallas Office
of Holland & Knight have been named to the Lawyers of Color Hot List for 2014. The Hot
List recognizes early-to mid-career minority attorneys working as in-house counsel, gov-
ernment attorneys, and law firm associates and partners. Honorees, who were chosen
through a rigorous two-pronged selection and research process, will be profiled in Lawyers
of Color's Hot List 2014 Issue, to be published in July, and honored at a reception in Dal-
las.
Maryland AG’s Thurgood Marshall Program Begins Second Year
The Thurgood Marshall Opportunity Program (TMOP), designed to attract talented law
students with diverse backgrounds, launched in the fall of 2012 at the request of Attorney
General Doug Gansler, and through the strong initiative, planning, and leadership of Beve-
ridge & Diamond Managing Principal, Ben Wilson, B&D Baltimore office Managing Princi-
pal Pamela Marks (a former Assistant Maryland Attorney General) and four other firms:
Saul Ewing, Whiteford Taylor Preston, Miles & Stockbridge, and Gordon Feinblatt. To-
gether, the firms have pledged to fund and support TMOP for a minimum of three years.
Now in its second program year, six law students are currently working in a variety of divi-
sions at the AG's office. . In addition to pledging financial support to the program, partici-
pating law firms host the law clerks, their supervising attorneys, and representatives from
the University of Maryland and Baltimore law schools, as a way to strengthen the law
clerks' professional networks and base of support. Additional firm participation will enable
the program to provide this unique opportunity to a greater number of law clerks each
year. Firms interested in sponsoring TMOP should contact Kisha Brown, Director of Leg-
islative Affairs and Civil Rights in the AG's Office.
Camelia Mazard Given Lifetime Achievement Award
On June 11 Camelia Mazard of Doyle, Barlow & Mazard
PLLC was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award
given by the Washington, D.C. chapter of Women in Inter-
national Trade (“WIIT”). This award is given to an active
WIIT member who has been affiliated with the organiza-
tion for at least 10 years and whose service in WIIT has
had a significant impact on the association. The individual
is also a role model for others in international trade and
inspires careers in trade by others.

Judges Needed for JTBF Mock Trial Competition, July 11
Holland & Knight's Washington D.C. will be hosting the upcoming Just the Beginning - APipeline Organization's (formerly known as Just the Beginning Foundation) ("JTBF") Sum-mer Legal Institute mock trial on Friday, July 11, 2014 at its offices located at 800 17th
Street, NW, Suite 1100. JTBF is a not-for-profit organization of judges, lawyers, and othercitizens dedicated to developing educational programs to inspire and foster careers in thelaw among underrepresented ethnic and racial groups. JTBF executes its mission by of-fering pipeline programs directly aimed at inspiring young students and increasing diversi-ty in the legal profession and judiciary. The Summer Legal Institute is one of the pro-grams spearheaded by JTBF, as a week long program whose curriculum is designed tobe interactive, exciting and fun in order to motivate, inspire and encourage students on apath towards academic and personal success for now and in the future. Focused on thelegal profession, the program is structured to convince young people that being a lawyeris attainable, assist them in the college admissions process, and that goal setting andpreparation is critical. The SLI concludes with high school students putting on a mock trialjudged by attorneys. The oral arguments will last from approximately 8:30am until noonon July 11th, with Holland & Knight hosting a breakfast for the students immediately priorto oral arguments.
