Inspection Station – Lane Utilization
Note – this was a Saturday when the line at 7:25am extended to the corner of Delaware and M streets. Note that lanes 4 and 5 got off to a slow start, and lane 2 apparently stopped service at 8:30am. Green color indicates vehicles with OBD (on board detection), for model years 1996 and after.
Source: DMV Inspections system. Each tile represents an inspection. Green have on board detection, orange do not. Lane 9 used for special inspections.

• Most schools start at 8:45 (DCPS) or 8:30 (St. Coletta, Accotink)• Three DCPS learning centers for special ed children start at 7:45: Mamie D. Lee, Prospect, and Taft
• The earlier start enables crews on these routes to make a second round of pickups on 65 of the 68 routes serving those schools
• Could DCPS start more schools earlier?• Could DCPS offer special “before/after” classes for special ed students, in exchange for part of the
savings generated by enabling buses to cover multiple routes?
