  • 1. INDUSTRIAL ESTATES Industrial estates are specific areas zoned forindustrial activity where infrastructure (such asroads, power and other utility services) isprovided to facilitate the growth of industriesand to minimize the impacts on theenvironment.

2. Industrial estates may include :-effluent treatment;solid and toxic waste collection,treatment, and disposal;air pollutiontechnical services on pollution prevention;quality management (quality assurance and control);laboratory services. 3. SELECTION OF SITES FOR INDUSTRIAL ESTATES SHOULDTAKE INTO ACCOUNT SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES,AS WELL AS ECONOMIC CONSIDERATIONS . Details of the location Layout and design Transport services Fuel storage Air quality management Solid waste management, including recycling Management of hazardous materials and hazardouswastes Noise control 4. OBJECTIVES Provide infrastructure. To encourage the small scale industries. To create entrepreneurship by creating a goodclimate to run the business in these estates. To decentralize industries to the rural andbackward areas 5. ANDHRA PRADESH The Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation hasbeen entrusted with the responsibility of setting-up industrialestates throughout the State, providing basic infrastructure such assheds, internal roads, power, drainage etc. A common complaint of the SSI entrepreneurs is that the cost ofdeveloped plots sold by APIIC is high compared to the cost ofsimilar property and facilities that can be privately acquired.Moreover, there is widespread criticism that the infrastructure inthe industrial estates is not properly maintained by the APIIC. 6. The Government will introduce a scheme to be calledthe "Critical Infrastructure Balancing Scheme" underwhich funds will be made available to industrial estatesto identify the Development Programme for theestablishment of some critical infrastructure in theexisting industrial estates. 7. POLICY. The policy to provide infrastructure support to SSIs throughindustrial estates will be continued and strengthened. Theme Parks such as Software Park, Apparel Export Park,Biotech Park Leather Park etc. Captive mini-power plants special industrial water supply schemes for the new industrialestates, besides the normal infrastructure such as roads, sanitation,street lighting etc., will be made integral parts of the projectswherever found necessary. 8. A State level organization to be called the Andhra Pradesh SmallScale Industries Development Authority will be set up to promotethe development of small scale industries in the State . One of the important tasks of the Authority will be to coordinatethe activities of all the agencies involved in the development ofinfrastructure for industries. The task of this Authority in the area of infrastructure will be to:Ensure that all essential facilities are provided in an integratedmanner to the industrial estates.Check if the cost of the developed land and services is reasonable 9. To encourage exports, the State Government will strengtheninfrastructure such as international airports, sea ports, warehouses,cold storage chains, modern cargo handling facilities and containerservices. While identifying the requirements of the industry and preparingfeasibility reports, the State Government will encourage privateinvestment in this sector to the extent possible apart from steppingup its own investments. 10. INDUSTRIAL INFRASTRUCTURE: Industrial Estates: There are 272 Industrial estates and industrialdevelopment areas in the State, covering an area of14700 hectares. The State Government is in the process ofdeveloping Industrial Parks at different places. Software Park at Hyderabad, Hitec city for softwareunits, Apparel Park at Gundlapochampalli, ExportPromotion Park at Pashamylaram, VisakhapatnamExport Processing Zone, Bio-technology park atTurkapally. 11. Many other parks are proposed, such asleather parks at various places in the districts; food parks - one each in the 3 regions of Telangana(processing of poultry products/processing of coarse grain &millets/spices); Coastal Andhra and in Rayalseema region(processing of vegetables - onion, tomatoes, fruits, spices -coriander, edible oils, labour oriented, export oriented industry.Agri Export Zones for the following produce are proposed atthe places mentioned against them: mangoes - Krishna district, gherkins Mahaboobnagar, Rangareddy, Medak, Karimnagar,Warangal, Anantapur, Nalgonda, mangoes and grapes Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medak,Mahaboobnagar, mango pulp and fresh vegetables Chittoor Other parks coming up are Gems and Jewellery park,Visakhapatnam Exim park, 12.
