Some Lions within the District have offered their Ser-vices to help others in slightly different ways...you can support the DG’s wife’s appeal for the last time by bid-ding for one of these lots. Lot 1 is from Simon Moss – A lesson for up to 6 people on Face Book or Twitter. Venue at MDHQ. Time negotiable. Lot 2 is from Richard Williams A truly unique experience for any lover of bovine crea-tures, certainly not one for the faint hearted. A moooov-ing experience. An overnight stay, breakfast included, for one person, visiting one of Europe's top Artificial Insemination Cen-tres, spending the whole day looking at what happens from bull to cow...surely this is an opportunity not to be missed. Lot 3 is from Trevor Harrison and Jim Ford A horse race night at any Zone event in Region 3. Great for fundraising and fun when combined with a burger and a pint. Lot 4 offered by Martin Hill An afternoon or evening being driven in a 1965 Bentley S3, dates will have to be agreed with Martin and Sarah as the Bentley is a fair weather car and doesn't like winter, only to be used within the confines of 105M. Lot 5 again offered by Martin Hill Continuing on from the motor theme of Martin and his lovely wife Sarah have offered a further outing in one of their cars, this time it's their 1972 Rolls Royce Cornice. Again it can be an evening or afternoon within the boundaries of 105M, at a time mutually agreeable to all. I have to remind any interested bidders out there that this car is a fair weather car and doesn't like win-ter. Lot 6 offered by Joy herself DG Ian and his wife Joy have offered Bed and Break-fast at their lovely home in the suburbs of Worcester, with close links to the M5 motorway. Date and time to be agreed with the hostess. Lot 7 offered by Darren Blenkiron Have you ever wanted to host a party/ fundraising din-ner/charter night but found it difficult to get the right mix of music? Well worry no more...Darren Blenkiron, 105M's resident DJ has offered his services either at a Disco or Karaoke for the evening. Lot 8 offered by John Kelly To cook a meal for four in their own home at a mutually agreed time. He doesn’t guarantee to wash up. Lot 9 offered by Liam Barrett

Liam will serve at table for any dinner party you may be having and if you so wish he will be topless…you may pay more for him to keep his top on… And/or Liam will provide first aid training with his mani-kins for a small group. Ideal for a club event. This can be bid for as one whole lot or as two separate ones. Three late arrivals Lot 10 offered by Paul Jolly He has volunteered the Services of his crane, this can lift small portacabins etc and I am sure it could be of use to someone, perhaps at a Summer event, Raft Race). SPOTLIGHT ON……. Lions Year 2014-15 Last newsletter of the year and just one more Charter Anniversary to attend. DGE Heather is now in Hawaii preparing for her induction as DG for the coming Lions Year. It’s been a great year and I have thoroughly enjoyed my year as DG. Spotlight this month is reflecting on the Lions Year 2014-15. Membership at the time of writing this newsletter District Membership stands at 1,019 which is a net drop of 10 over the year. We started the year with a small net growth in the first quarter, whilst we continue to gain new members we are losing more. The average membership per club in our District is now 19. For our Multiple District the average is 20 with a range of 16 to 24 for all Districts in our MD. Membership will continue to be in focus for next year. Leadership The Global Leadership Team (GLT) have continued this year with high quality workshops for Club Officers to District Officers, through to New Members Orientation. More of our Lions should take

Please circulate to all Club Members

opportunities - Something to focus on next year. Communications The Communications Team con-tinue to do a great job keeping us informed through Mid-land News, emails and the website. Health We have some great programs from the Health Team. The District continue to support Specta-cle Recycling, Diabetes Awareness as well as many other campaigns including Prostate Screening. International We have a good selection of Interna-tional Projects again this year. The District voted at our Convention to re-affirm it’s support of North Sea Lions. There was also great support for Nepal following the terrible earthquake earlier this year. Youth Youth Projects continue to go from strength to strength with Young Leaders in Service, Young Am-bassador Competition and the Peace Poster - a very creditable 3rd place within the MD for Balsall Commons entry this year. Finance & Admin Administration of the District has been very well run again this year. A highlight to report is 100% of our clubs signed the Health and Safety Statement of Intent. Well it’s that time again when clubs need to return the Statement of Intent ready for the 2015-16 Lions Year in order to maintain our 100% re-turn. I wish Heather every success for the coming Lions Year and take this opportunity to thank the DG Team for their hard work and support this year. Finally I have a week to go!!! I will be staying with Cabi-net as Global Leadership Team Co-ordinator and hope to see as many of you as possible at the District Changeover on Sunday 19th July at the St Johns Hotel, Solihull – to book your place contact John Barnes [email protected]. THOUGHTS TO INSPIRE Don’t look further for answers: Be the solution. You were born with everything you need to know. Make a promise to stop getting in the way of the blessings you are. Take a deep breath, remember to have fun and begin—Jonathan H Ellerby. I would like to thank all Lions in the District for their hospitality, support and friend-ship to both Joy and myself over the last year.
