MESSAGE FROM THE DISTRICT GOVERNORDear Rotary Leader,

Greetings!

It gives me great pleasure in extending warm greetings to each one of you as you take over your new roles & responsibilities for the Rotary year 2017-18.

We are all part of a great organization that challenges us to step out of our comfort zones and work for the betterment of the society. Over the past so many years, with our dedicated and committed efforts we have been able to benefit different sections of the society.

Our fight against Polio is a shining example of Rotary: Making a Difference.

As your District Governor, I believe that together we can achieve all of this and much more. The need of the hour is to adopt a pro-active approach and build your leadership plan based on supporting and strengthening your club and building an image that attracts more and more service minded people to join Rotary.

This year's mantra is to focus on the 3 Ts - Transparency, Time management & Technology.

I am sure by simply following this mantra we will be able to build goodwill, better friendships and create a great brand image for our district.

Ritu and I wish you well and will be by your side as you reach out to Make A Difference in the society.

MESSAGE FROM PRESIDENT'S DESKDear Southenders,

Two months into the year and I am overwhelmed by the support and love extended to me by each southender. The Monthri concept has been well accepted by the club and its very heartening to see each Monthri’s involvement in execution of the events of the month. We have had 3 JLT’s for planning the month of August and one for September. The generosity shown by southenders towards various charitable projects has been spectacular. I would like to encourage all the southenders to keep the same momentum for the months to come as the fun-do groups have planned lot of fun filled activities for the entire year. It is my humble request to all of you to please take the surveys sent through links as this will help us work on our lack areas and ensure a more fulfilling year to come.I would also like to request all southenders to join me to express our deepest condolences on the sad demise of our very own Rtn. S.L. Chaudhary. May his soul rest in peace.

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT AT VRINDAVAN 36 Southenders participated in Community Service Project in Vrindavan on 1st August 2017. 140 Widows

were given hampers containing clothing, Shoes & other items of necessity. A luxury bus was arranged for the trip as so many Rotarian's wished to attend.

MATA KI CHOWKIPrior to the wedding of their daughter Avni, Rtn. Manoj goel and R'ann Mamta Goel had organised

'Mata Ki Chowki' at Chattarpur Mandir on 18th August. It was a well attended function.

Our senior and respected member

Rtn. S.L. Chaudhry passed away on 2nd August 2017 after a brief illness.

He was 85, and a member of Southend since the past 33 years.

An active member during his younger years, he contributed a lot to the community along with R'ann Kamlesh Chaudhry

who runs the NGO Shikha Paathshala for the education of underprivileged kids. An immigrant from Pakistan, he

started his packaging business way back in 1955, taking it to new heights, specializing in the field of agro packaging, which

won many accolades and awards in the industry.

We will miss his presence and guidance. May God bless his soul.
