The Lions of 22-W welcome you to Hagerstown for the 94th annual
Multiple District 22 convention. Our convention theme is “Dignity.
Harmony. Humanity.” Our special guest is International President
Jitsuhiro Yamada. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet the Interna-
tional President!
We are sure you will enjoy the pre-convention social, convention meetings, hospitality rooms, candidate night, seminars, exhibits and banquets. The pre-convention social will be held on Monday, May 16 at 7 p.m., poolside at the Clarion Hotel. There will be also be a golf tournament at the Black Rock Golf Course in Hagerstown on Monday, May 16 starting at 10:30 a.m. Candidate Hospitality Night will be Wednesday, May 18 from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. Candidate hospitality tables for District Governor and First and Second Vice District Governors are avail-able in Hager Hall. Enjoy great fellowship and friendship at this event. Convention seminars are educational, interesting, and provide information about our Multiple
District programs and foundations. The information obtained at the seminars provides person-
al growth and helps enhance the operation of our Lions’ organization. It’s a great place to
bring your new members and officers to educate them on Lionism.
As a convention delegate you can take part in the election of district leadership, your district’s
governor and vice district governors.
We encourage you to come and renew old acquaintances, strengthen existing friendships,
make new Lion friends and recognize individuals who have contributed to our success.
We are here because we believe in Lionism and service and we believe
in you. Together we are “United to Serve Our Communi-
ties.” Remember, “Where there is a need, there is a Li-
on.”

Dr. Jitsuhiro Yamada, of Minokamo, Gifu, Japan,
was elected to serve as president of Lions Clubs
International at the association's 98th International
Convention held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA, June 26
through 30, 2015.
President Yamada is a neurosurgeon.
A member of the Minokamo Lions Club, President
Yamada has been a Lion since 1985. He has held
many offices in the association, including district
governor and GLT constitutional area vice leader.
He served on the international board from 2005 to
2007 as a member of the Executive Committee and
the Long Range Planning Committee and Vice
Chairperson of Convention Committee.
He also served as a board appointee for 2011-2012.
In recognition of his service to the association, Presi-
dent Yamada has received numerous awards, in-
cluding the Humanitarian Partner Award, 10 Interna-
tional President's Awards and an Ambassador of
Good Will Award, the highest honor the association
bestows upon its members. He is also a Progressive
Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, President Yamada is
chairperson for several organizations including the
Social Medical Corporation Koseikai, the Kizawa
Memorial Hospital, the Social Welfare Corporation
Jikeikai, Nozominooka Hospital and Ajisai Nursing
College. He is a standing director of the Japan Hos-
pital Association and an affiliate professor at Gifu
University.
President Yamada has been active in the area of
international relations, serving as president of the
Gifu-Hungary Friendship Association, Gifu-
Morocco Association and Gifu-Salzburg Associa-
tion. He is a recipient of the Order of Merit of the
Republic of Hungary, the Medal of Honor of the
Alaouite Dynasty of the Kingdom of Morocco and
an honorary citizen of Beijing City, China, in
recognition of his service to international friend-
ship building.
President Yamada and his wife, Dr. Toshiko
Yamada, also a Lion and a Progressive Melvin
Jones Fellow, have one son, one daughter and
three grandchildren.

INTERNATIONAL DIRECTOR
RICHARD LIEBNO
Richard Liebno, from Westminster, Maryland, was elected to serve a two year term
as a director of Lions Clubs International at the association’s 98th International Con-
vention held in Honolulu, Hawaii, June 26 through 30, 2015. Director Liebno is re-
tired from the sales and marketing industry. A member of the Deer Park Lions Club
since 1974, he has held many offices within the association, including club presi-
dent, club treasurer, cabinet secretary, district governor and council chairperson. In
recognition of his service to the association, Director Liebno has received numerous
awards, including the Club President Excellence Award, a Membership Key Award,
a Leadership Award and an International President’s Award. He is also a Melvin
Jones Fellow. In addition to his Lions activities, Director Liebno is active in numer-
ous professional and community organizations, including the Western Maryland
Railway Historical Society and Grace Lutheran Church. Director Liebno is married
to Grace, who is also a Lion.

Pre-Convention Social
The Pre-Convention Social will be on Monday, May 16, 2016, at 7:30pm
poolside at the Clarion Hotel. This year the Convention Committee would like
to start your convention fun at the poolside mixer. What better time to wind
down from your long drive or not so long drive, with friends you have not seen
in a while and just enjoy the evening. Don’t Forget to bring your new members
and your families. Cash Bar, Live Act, Music.
Seminars
Seminars are educational and interesting. The information obtained at the
seminars can provide personal growth and help to enhance the operation of
our Lions organization. It’s a great place to bring your new members and offic-
ers to education them on Lionism.
The schedule for the seminars has been arranged….see pages 7 and 8. Hours
on Tuesday, May 17th are from 1:30pm-4:40pm. The hours on Wednesday, May
18th are from 10:30am-12:00pm.
Candidate Hospitality Night
Candidate Hospitality Night will be Wednesday, May 16th from 7:30pm-
10:00pm. Candidate Hospitality tables for District Governor, and First and Sec-
ond Vice District Governors will be setup in Hager Hall. Enjoy great fellowship
and friendship at this event.
Come and visit with old friends, meet new friends, and meet the candidates.

Room 1 Learning Center : LOVRNET (90 Minutes) – Get the latest update on the biggest project yet; the Lions Low Vision Rehabilitation Net-work. With our partners; Lions Clubs International Foundation, Readers Digest Foundation and Blind Industries and Services of Maryland, Lions are in-volved in their communities to bring new low vision services to more residents than ever. This program is presented only once. Dr. Robert “Bob” Massof is providing the LOVRNET seminar.
Room 2 Learning Center: Membership (90 Minutes) – Strengthen your club through growth and club excellence. Discuss how to strengthen the base of Lionism, the club. Presented by the Global Membership Team.
Room 3 Learning Center:Your Club Your Way (40 Minutes) – Understanding the challenges fac-ing clubs. How do we meet the needs of those who would be Lions? Presented by PDG Dee Hawkins.
Room 3 LC: Centennial Update (40 Minutes) – Where are we on our journey toward our 100th year? Every club can play a part in reaching our goal, and your club can earn special Centennial recognition when you serve. Where’s there is a need, There is a Lion! Presented by PDG Dee Hawkins.
Room 4: LC LYF (40 Minutes) – The Lions Youth Foundation of MD 22 assists any Lions, Lioness, or Leo Club in the Multiple District in sponsoring any worthy project that will increase the quality of life for youth in our communities and enhances the image of Lionism through youth services. Presented by PDG Dave Studley.
Room 4 LC: LCIF (40 Minutes)– Our Foundation helps to restore sight and prevent blindness by improving eye care; supports youth through Lions Quest and other projects; provides dis-aster relief and meets humanitarian needs around the world. Presented by PDG Ken Chew.
Room : Clarion Emperor Room:: Lead-er Dog (40 Minutes) “10 Things you May Not Know about Leader Dogs for the Blind.” We hear Lions say “I know all about Leader Dog!” but chances are there is more to learn about this industry for-ward organization. Leader Dog is con-stantly striving to empower people who are blind, visually impaired or Deaf-Blind with skills for a lifetime of independent travel through innovative programs. You’ll leave saying “I didn’t know that!” (the oth-er thing we hear a lot!). Presenter: Lion Beth Slade, Leader Dogs for the Blind Li-on Liaison .
Room : Clarion Emperor Room: Camp Merrick (40 Minutes) – The summer camp programs promote the education, creative expression and social growth of special needs youth. Lions Camp Merrick fosters friendships between children fac-ing similar challenges (such as children with diabetes), and provides the communi-ty and Lions with opportunities for service,
