Report of the Swindon Phoenix Rotary Club: Wednesday October 4th

President Nigel opened the evening with the Royal toast and welcoming Samantha Jayne, thisevenings speaker, Karen Edwards, wings, Dianne fisher and Peggy Goldsworthy.

Hosting tonight was Gail Light who started the evening with some words of thought :

May love and laughter light your days, and warm your heart and home.

May good and faithful friends be yours,Wherever you may roam.

May peace and plenty bless your world with joy that long endures.

May all life's passing seasons bring the best to you and yours!

Following a lovely dinner of risotto cakes and Belly Pork Gail introduced her speaker SamanthaJayne a Psychic medium and Holistic Healer.

Gail met Samantha at the Wyvern Theatre when a friend she was with mentioned that she had had areading from Samantha and had been amazed at what she had told her.  Always been intrigued bythe spiritual world , Gail asked Sam if she would come and speak to Phoenix about her experiencesand to explain how she first became aware of her gift.

Sam starting by telling us that she had been working professionally in the business for the past16yrs.

Page 5: District 1100 England The Birdythephoenixbulletin.weebly.com/uploads/7/1/3/6/7136769/birdy_268.pdf · The Birdy President Nominee PJ O’Farrell Editor PP Peter Goldsworthy Sapphire

Although as when a child she used to walk round spirits in a seemingly empty room and seeingvirtual animals she thought that was normal.  It was not until she was manager of a pub in Bristoland saw the spirit of the previous dead landlord, that she realised that she had the gift.

She sees her work as helping in the healing process of people going through the grief process.

Sam explained the differences between the different names used in her field:

* Clairvoyance - seeing

* Clairaudience - hearing

* Claircognizance - knowing

* Clairgustance - taste

* Psychic - awareness of energy aura.

* Medium - communicate with dead people

* Empathy - sensitive to energy

* Healer - channel for transfer of positive energy.

Samantha has an awareness of energy aura and often has to taste lots of cakes and drink whiskey asthat is why the spirits wants to do through her senses.  Gail mentioned that they must have nocalories as Sam had a fab figure!

She explained that she has thoughts that are not hers and this how she knows when someone istrying to get a message through.

The spirit communicates in daily life without us knowing : such as the first words of a song whenyou switch the radio on, feathers appearing unexpectedly, dreams.  She gave an example of howher car was playing up but she was not going to do anything about it.  On the lorry in front of herwas her mobile mechanic advert.  This prompted her to go to the garage on her way home. Themechanic told her that if she had not come into the garage when she did the car would have beenruined.

Sam has worked recently with the police on a local missing boy. She could tell them that he wasstill alive and the rough area where he was.  He is now safely home.

Page 6: District 1100 England The Birdythephoenixbulletin.weebly.com/uploads/7/1/3/6/7136769/birdy_268.pdf · The Birdy President Nominee PJ O’Farrell Editor PP Peter Goldsworthy Sapphire

She finished off by explaining what the Dead have taught her about living :

* The power of word

*It is the living that will do you more harm

* Live in this moment. Don't destroy today over yesterday

* It is important to live, not just to survive

* I will sleep when I am dead

* All we have is our memories and feelings

I think I could write a book about all she spoke about and probably missed out a lot of what shetalked about but if you want to know more you can always book a private appointment with her.

Diane asked Sam about the link between dementia and the spirits, Sam believes that althoughdifficult for loved ones, they are happy in their world.

Tony mentioned that he believes in reincarnation as he often gets a feeling that he has beensomewhere before when he knows that he physically has not been.

Adam asked if there was a link between emotional intelligence and gut feelings. Sam said that weshould follow your feelings not your mind.

Gail thanked Sam for enlightening us all and asked everyone to thank Samantha in the good oldfashioned Rotarian way!

President Nigel then invited Ronnie Wan and his Phoenix Mentor Chris Sims up to celebrate theinduction of Ronnie to the club. Gail was asked to read out the Object of Rotary before PresidentNigel presented Ronnie with his Rotary Pin and welcoming his lovely wife Michele as a new wing.

Ronnie thanked Phoenix for accepting him to our club and how he hoped to contribute to thecommunity before  personally meeting each club member.

President Nigel wished Kevin Brown Happy belated 84th Birthday for the 2nd October!.

President Nigel presented Rotarian Darren a Certificate for passing his Captain of the barge exam.

Gail handed over some Titanic teabags on return from her holiday to Ireland. ( change fromalcohol!!!)

All agreed to the charities proposed by the Club 1100 winners from last week.

President Nigel reminded us of the following events :
