Shop Sales

• Hardcopies of magazines can be purchased at newsagents, corner shops, some bookstores and supermarkets (e.g. WHSmith's, Waterstones etc.).

• They are sold for the price that is shown on the magazine. The shops do not keep small profits from purchases.

Subscription Sales

• When customers subscribe to magazine and the manufacturer posts them every issue.

• This is more expensive than purchasing at shops because of the price for postage and packaging, and any other delivery charges.

• Also, it can take up to 7 days for an issue to be posted, which means they may be posted late.

Online Distribtuion

• When digital copies of the magazine are sold online, and can be purchased via iTunes, Google Play Store, Kindle Store, and other online app stores, to be viewed on computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones.

• This method of viewing magazines is becoming the most used as it is fast, easy to use, and also cuts down the waste of owning hardcopies.

Do subscriptions give access to pay-wall online content

• Pay-walls are when a newspaper/magazine company (e.g. The Sun, The Times etc.) restrict access to content on their websites, unless the viewer pays or subscribes to the service.

• The website prompts the viewer to pay by blocking access to content with a pay wall, which prompts them to pay so they have unlimited access to the magazine/newspaper’s content.
