Lawrence went on to star in Mama’s Family, which consistently topped the ratings for its entire six-year run. Lawrence takes the stage first in a show that is not a retrospective, but a mixture of stand-up comedy, music, and observations about real life.

Join the Viterbo music department as they present two one-act operas. In Riders to the Sea, Maurya, an elderly Irishwoman, has lost her husband, father-in-law, and four of her sons to the sea. The opera opens as her fifth son, Michael, has been found washed ashore and her youngest son, Bartley, prepares to leave for the coast. The Impresario is a comedic opera which tells the tale of Frank, the impresario, who auditions Madame Goldentrill and Miss Silverpeal to be part of his new theatrical company. While both are hired, an argument ensues about who will get the leading role and who will be the highest paid.

Would it surprise you to know that the story of Rapunzel happened in France? Well it didn’t really, but Missoula Children’s Theatre’s story takes you on a frivolous frolic through the French countryside. Frenchy and his intense friends, the Wood Elves, do their best to help Rapunzel escape the grasp of Madame Gothel with the assistance of the lost Prince, Rapunzel’s parents, and her friends the unicorns. Rapunzel and the rest of the characters tell a silly tale of personal triumph and friendship in this original adaptation.

Auditions will be held Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 3:45 p.m. at the Viterbo Fine Arts Center. Call 608-796-3735 for more information.

Orpheus in the Underworld is a slightly scandalous satire of Gluck’s opera Orpheus and Eurydice and is often referred to as the first full-length operetta. It is most widely known for the Infernal Galop (Can-Can), which shocked the first audiences. The melodramatic antics of Greek gods, Orpheus, Eurydice, Public Opinion, and Love Police will entertain you with comedy and beautiful music.
