THE DESIRED OUTCOME

DISCIPLESHIP JOURNEY

• LDMT and DMT will “journey”, for 18 months, along the congregation in order to identify God’s calling and generate the appropriate steps to respond to it.

• DESIRED OUTCOMES:

• 1) Local congregation to engage in its immediate mission field.

• 2) Local congregation to engage in ministry with a local school.

• 3) Local congregation to identify 2 possible ministries to work. Then, choose 1 and develop it.

• 4) Produce a discipleship plan.

• 5) Identify and empower leadership.

HOW? “THE PROCESS”

DISCIPLESHIP JOURNEY

• INITIAL 6 MONTHS

• Meeting #1

• When? Saturday 10am - 3pm or Sunday 2pm - 7pm

• What? Outline of the process; overview of the community using zeemap and mission-insite, and develop and initial community assessment.

• Who? Pastor, associates, key stake holders of the congregation (Ad. Council?).

• Enter into a covenant.

• HOMEWORK

• Leadership team will go through the study guide. This study guide will aid the leaders to asses the congregation and the community. The guide has as intent to enter in a conversation between God and the participants. This section of the process will last 3 months.

HOW? “THE PROCESS”

• Meeting #2

• When? Saturday 10am - 3pm or Sunday 2pm - 7pm

• What? “town hall” type meeting with church in general where the leadership team will present its initial findings (opportunities and challenges). Then meeting with leadership team and LDMT representatives to present findings and start narrowing down possible ministries

• Who? Pastor, associates, key stake holders of the congregation (Ad. Council?).

• Action plan for next 3 months.

• HOMEWORK

• Members of the leadership team will facilitate the study guide to members of the church (Sunday School, Wednesday night, etc.). The pastoral leadership will start a sermon series based on the study guide. The leadership team will host “town hall” type meetings once a month to present their findings. Leadership team will continue to pray and discern God’s calling for the church and its community. This section of the process will last 3 months.

• When? Friday night and Saturday 10am - 3pm (Planning retreat)

• What? Meet to create an action plan and a discipleship plan.

• Who? Pastor, associates, key stake holders of the congregation (Ad. Council?).

• Action plan for next 12 months.

• HOMEWORK

• Meeting with LDMT and DMT representatives quarterly to check on progress and/or midcourse corrections to plan.
