Disabled Vietnam Veteran Home Remodel Valued At Over $150KSundt Construction & Grainger Foundation lead sponsorship team & 100 volunteers for the home remodel of local disabled Vietnam veteran SAN DIEGO, Calif. (January 25, 2016) – On Monday, December 7, 2105, Embrace will began its tenth home remodel for local disabled Vietnam veteran, Specialist Fourth Class (Army), Steven Ellenson, as part of the Healing Our Heroes’ Homes (H3) program. 1 month and over $150,000 in labor and materials later, Embrace completed it’s latest and largest remodel in the 4 years the program has been in existence. The latest mission was made possible by a presenting sponsorship from the Grainger Foundation and General Contractor Sundt Construction Inc., which was responsible for securing 10’s of thousands of dollars of donated labor and materials from approximately 1 dozen subcontractors. “The amount of work that was able to be completed in the amount of time taken, especially while battling the elements, truly was amazing,” said Embrace and H3 Founder, Sean Sheppard. “Our sponsors, volunteer contractors and volunteer laborers truly demonstrated how much they care about the veteran community during this remodel.”

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (January 25, 2016) On Monday, December 7, 2105, Embracewill began its tenth home remodel for local disabled Vietnam veteran, Specialist Fourth Class (Army), Steven Ellenson, as part of the Healing Our Heroes Homes (H3) program. 1 month and over $150,000 in labor and materials later, Embrace completed its latest and largest remodel in the 4 years the program has been in existence. The latest mission was made possible by a presenting sponsorship from the Grainger Foundation and General Contractor Sundt Construction Inc., which was responsible for securing 10s of thousands of dollars of donated labor and materials from approximately 1 dozen subcontractors. Work completed included: Installation of central air, total kitchen and bath remodel, new flooring, new lighting, 2 new concrete driveways and walkways, new back deck, electrical upgrades, plumbing upgrades, new patio privacy fencing, new property fencing, new water well and total home fumigation.Disabled Vietnam veteran Steven Ellenson was selected among several other disabled veterans in need to have his home remodel by meeting the criteria of having an 80% or higher VA disability rating, being a home owner and being honorably discharged. Mr. Ellenson joined the Army in 1968 as a Military Policeman. He was later promoted to Sp4 and assigned to Fort Mead, Maryland as part of a riot control unit. Once the country entered into war, he volunteered to go to Vietnam, where he served on the convoy escort team. Mr. Ellenson suffers from permanent PTSD, making it difficult to begin or complete necessary home projects.Well over 1000 aggregate hours of donated labor by 75 volunteer contractors and sponsors came together to complete this mission, which was overseen by General Contractor Sundt Construction Inc. and Superintendent Nate Larsen. Additional sponsorship dollars came from long time sponsor SDG&E, the Jack In The Box Foundation and the Rob Benzon Foundation. In Kind sponsorship was provided by long time sponsor, the Home Depot Foundation
