Introduction

As part of strenuous efforts by the General Authority for Statistics (GAStat) to reach the national statistical

indicators in all fields and to seek the use and employment of the latest methodologies of difficulty statistics,

Washington Group has developed an extended set on disability questions (Washington Group - Extended Set

Questionnaire “ES-Q”) with a view to reaching realistic indicators that reflect the percentage of difficulty

prevalence, to be adopted as a framework for policy development and decision-making and providing appropriate

services for population with disabilities in the Kingdom.

GAStat is glad to present the Disability Survey 2017. The survey covers a random sample of (33575) households

in a way that guarantees the representation nationwide. The sample was taken in light of results of the updated

framework of the population and houses census of 1431H (2010) (Rev. 2016).

This survey basically aims to give a picture about the difficulty prevalence in the Kingdom and categories of

difficulties as for the degree of intensity and prevalence among community members. The report includes the

survey methodology, data collection method and analytical results. GAStat, represented in the Department of

Population and Vital Statistics, has conducted the survey in the period from 17/7/1438A.H. to 22/8/1438A.H.

(14/4/2017 to 18/5/2017).

In this survey, the data about the household has been collected, including the social status, economic status,

educational status, difficulty status and demographic structure of Saudi and non-Saudi population nationwide and

region-wide. Many indicators about people with disabilities have been extracted through this survey such as:

Percentage of difficulty by the different degrees of intensity and its types, age and type structure of population,

educational status and practical status

In this report, GAStat provides the main indicators of the survey. It hopes that the results will fulfil the requirements

of planners, researchers and those interested in studies about people with disabilities.

GASTAT thanks all partners and clients who are in concern of the people with disabilities’ service and the heads

of the households included in the study whose cooperation had a great impact on issuing this report. At the same

time, it is hoped that everyone will provide us with her/his feedback via e-mail ([email protected]). Such

comments will improve the content of the report and further enhance the future reports.

Definitions First: Survey Objectives

1. Adopting the Washington Group for Disability’s long list of population with disabilities to include

them in the survey sample.

2. Obtaining realistic indicators concerning spread of the disability, features, and the level of difficulties

that face the disabled individuals in Saudi Arabia.

3. Supporting the disability sector by decision-makers and policy-makers by adopting realistic bases and

indicators in a way that guarantees the rights of the population with disabilities and fulfill their needs

and priorities.

4. Identifying the services provided to the disabled individuals and its nature to enable the involved

agencies to set their priorities and policies.

5. Providing demographic data and indicators periodically for measuring the change in the demographic

characteristics with the passage of time, and for carrying out local, regional and international

comparisons.

6. Providing details on population with disabilities in the kingdom according to the rate, type and cause

of the disability in addition to its social and demographic characteristics as well as the demographic

distribution.

Second: Survey Sample

1- Sample Design:

The Disability Survey is one of actual household surveys carried out by the General Authority for Statistics

by using the general population and housing census framework 1431H corresponding to 2010 (Rev.

2016). To get highly efficient and effective estimates, the survey society has been divided into non-

overlapping parts, characterized by relative homogeneity in their units. Each part is considered a category,

and each category is dealt with as an independent society. A random sample is independently drawn from

each category. Finally, all drawn sampling units are integrated to form the entire sample. It should be

taken into consideration that the household surveys need a relatively larger size of samples than the other

household samples because the survey variables affect age groups according to the sex and nationality so

that real findings of demographic variables be the concrete outcomes at the region level.

2- Survey Sample Design and Selection:

Ahead to the sample designing and proper methodology selection, the objectives of the Disability Survey

(2017) were put up for discussion along with the previous survey sample (Demographic Sample 2016

“which included data) to review the results and to analyze the Standard Deviation (SD) and Coefficient

Of Variation (CV) of main demographic variables. In the light of this study, new census sample

size was set. It was a random categorical cluster that was selected through two stages, in

accordance with the following:

First Stage

After determining the optimum size of the survey sample of households of each administrative region,

there begins the drawing of the Primary Sampling Units (PSU) from the main sample framework. A number of

1,300 statistical areas, out of 3,600 within the framework of the census was drawn. They were distributed over

all categories in every region using the method that is commensurate with the size and distributed as follows:

Second Phase

The secondary sampling units, i.e. households, were (SSU) were randomly drawn from the statistical areas,

which were chosen in the first phase using the regular random sample. Up to 25 households were chosen from

each statistical area, (totaling 33575) households that were picked in the following order:

3. Scope and range of the sample:

The sample of the Disability Survey includes: Saudi households inside the Kingdom and Saudis who are

temporarily outside the country for treatment, study, tourism, etc if they are counted as a household member as

long as the household is included in the sample. The survey sample covers all administrative regions in the

Kingdom.

Third: Survey form:

The survey form has been prepared and designed by specialists at GAStat. The paper form has been turned

into an electronic form. International recommendations, standards and definitions and local and international

requirements have been taken into account while designing the form. The survey form includes a group of

questions classified into several main sections as follows:

Questions about data and characteristics of population with disabilities that include:

Household characteristics

Demographic characteristics

Social Characteristics

Economic characteristics

Questions about job difficulty/difficulties by Washington Group's Extended Set, taking into account the

nature of the society (main questions have been endorsed, while using a number of sub-questions that provide

important information to difficulty-related agencies) such as: Use of glasses and medical lenses, use of hearing

aids, types of mobility aids and use of sign language). The main questions cover the following axes:

Visual difficulty (vision) by different degrees of intensity

Hearing difficulty by different degrees of intensity

Mobility difficulty by different degrees of intensity and used mobility aids

Difficulty related to the ability to communicate and understand with others by different degrees of

intensity

Difficulty related to the ability to remember and concentrate by different degrees of intensity

Difficulty related to the ability to personal care by different degrees of intensity

Feelings of anxiety and depression

Questions of importance to understand circumstances and reasons of the difficulty, including the following:

Duration of the difficulty

Reason of the difficulty

Services obtained from the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and type of these services

Relation between the parents and degree of kinship and its relation as a cause of disability

Habitual residence

Fourth: Census data collection and time reference:

The survey was conducted from 17/7/1438 A.H. to 22/8/1438 A.H. The method of interviewing the

household head has been used to fill in the survey form, with field researchers visiting the sampled household and

completing the data.

Form data of the Disability Survey is divided in terms of time reference to the following:

Completing the basic information of all household members regarding their numbers and basic

characteristics such as: Age, sex, educational status, marital status and the date on which the form

was completed.

Completing data of education status to the week before visiting the household.

Fifth: Definitions: Administrative Region:

A part of Saudi Arabia run by a governmental agency affiliated to the Ministry of the Interior. In each

administrative region there is a city representing the region's head quarter. The kingdom is divided into 13

administrative regions.

Building:

A building is every structure; whether permanent or temporary, single- or multi-storey, with one or more

rooms, and has one or more doors through which to access it. A building might and might not be inhabited;

and it could be intended for housing, or for economic, social or religious purposes. etc.... For example:

Complex, building, palace, villa, house, government building, shop, mosque... etc, taking into account the

annexed buildings such as garage and stores. Villa annexes shall not be counted as buildings. The same goes

with the bridges and chambers of electricity supply, engines and water pumps.

Dwelling:

It is a single- or multi-room unit (in a building or part of building) which is primarily prepared for one family

and has one separate door or a number of doors, whether it was still under construction, occupied or inhabited.

The dwelling might accommodate one or more households, one or or more businesses, or a family and a

business simultaneously. Every inhabited building during the numbering period shall be counted as a dwelling,

even if it was not set up for that purpose. For example: Shops, workshops and schools ... etc, the types of

residence include villas, houses and apartments.

Household:

Household means a person or a group of persons - with or without kinship binding them to one another -

who share residence during the enumeration. The household includes:

Saudi and non-Saudi population who has a normal stay with the household, but were absent during

the survey as they were temporarily outside the Kingdom such as: Businessmen, tourists, patients

and students abroad for medication and study.

Population who has a normal stay with the household, but were absent during the survey as they

were working in a night shift such as: Physicians, nurses, fishermen, airport staff, guards.... etc.

Servants, drivers and the like who are members of the same household.

Family members who are on a trip in the Kingdom.

Head of the Household:

It refers to the person regarded by the household members as its chief member. Usually, he is responsible for

taking decisions on the household affairs and his age must not be under 15 years old. If the household consists

of children and their mother, and they are cared for by a relative who does not live with them, such a relative

shall not be considered head of the household, nor shall he be recorded as one of its members. In this case,

the mother shall be considered the head of the household.

Population:

They are Saudi people who are normally staying in the Kingdom during the survey.

Survey population:

They are the household members in the sample, who live in dwellings and are known as households.

Age:

It is the time period calculated between date of birth and date of visit. It is presented in years, regardless of

months and days.

Nationality:

The individual's legal right of belonging to a particular country. It is usually defined by the passport the person

has the right to obtain.

Population with disabilities:

Every individual who has a deficiency in any body function or structure, who cripples his ability to participate due

to environmental and personal factors. Therefore, the term "difficulty levels" has been used to reflect the

limitedness of the body functions and structure, while shying away from using the term "difficulty" as it carries a

stain that - most probably - leads to denial. According to Washington Group classification for difficulty, the three

degrees of difficulty is measured by (mild - severe - extreme (cannot do)).

Medical glasses:

It is medical equipment used by the individual to help him overcome his visual problem (it could be medical

glasses or medical lenses)

Hearing aids

It is medical equipment used by the individual to help him overcome his hearing problem (hearing impairment

whether mild, moderate of extreme). The hearing aids may be a visible stethoscope or a tiny invisible stethoscope

placed inside the ear. It may also be the speakers used in Hypoacusis classes or halls.

Mobility Aids:

It is medical equipment used by the individual to help him move (such as Crutch, wheelchair, electric walker,

stand device, artificial limbs, or even help from another individual).

Difficulties related to ability to communicate and understand with others:

Problems faced by the individual in expressing or conveying what he wants to the others, or problems in

understanding what others say or both. This problem is mainly related to the expressive and receptive linguistic

capabilities that is represented in expressing ideas, or understanding or both of them.

Sign language:

It is the method used to communicate with the deaf by using the movement of fingers and hands -- basically

-- to convey the letters, numbers and words. Face expressions, lips movement and body movement are used to

convey the words, concepts, numbers and places.

Difficulties related to ability to remember and concentrate

Remembering refers to the ability to recall information and recent or old incidents and events. Concentration,

on the other hand, refers to the ability to follow up one topic with getting distracted.

Difficulties related to the ability of the population with disabilities to take care of themselves

The skills and practices of maintaining appearance and health (such as: washing hands and face, washing

teeth, ablution, getting dressed, etc...)

Anxiety:

Anxiety is defined as a psychological state manifested in the form of a continuous trouble as a result of the

individuals sense of a threating danger. This danger may actually exist or may be fancied and not existing in reality,

and its continuity is a sign of an illness that needs treatment.

Depression:

Depression may be defined as state of continuous sadness and grief that may last for two weeks or more and

it is considered as an illness that needs treatment.

Principal Characteristics of Population with Disability Survey

1– Population characteristics:

Percentage of Saudi population with difficulties (mild, severe and extreme) in the Kingdom accounts for

(7.1%) of the total Saudi population, of which males make up (3.7%) and females (3.4%).

Percentage of Saudi population with at least one severe or extreme difficulty is estimated at (2.9%) of

the total Saudi population, of which males account for (%1.4) and females (%1.5).

Percentage of Saudi population with mild difficulties is estimated at (4.1%) of the total Saudi population,

of which males account for (2.3%) and females (1.8%).

Percentage of Saudi population with one difficulty is estimated at (4%) of the total population, of which

males account for (2.2%) and females (1.8%)

Percentage of Saudi population with multiple difficulties is estimated at (3.1%) of the total Saudi

population, of which males account for (1.5%) and females (1.6%)

Number of Saudi population who suffer the three degree of difficulty (mild - severe - extreme) amounts to

(1445723) by 2017. Males account for (52.2%) and females (47.8%) of the total Saudi population with

disabilities.

As for geographical distribution, the survey findings show that the percentage of Saudi population with

disabilities was the highest in Riyadh region with (25.13%) of the total Saudi population with disabilities. Males

and females account for (54%, 46%) respectively. The lowest percentage was reported in Najran with (0.87%)

of the total Saudi population with disabilities, with males and females making up (54.2%, 45.8%) respectively.

As for population structure, the survey findings show that the percentage of Saudi population with disabilities

who are aged 5+ to the total Saudi population in the same category amounts to (7.78%), meaning that for every

(1000) Saudi individuals who are aged 5+ there are about (78) individuals with disabilities. Males with disabilities

account for (4.07%) against (3.71%) for females. The percentage of people with disabilities who are aged 20+

makes up (10.12%) of the total population in the same category with males accounting for (5.25%) and females

(4.87%). The percentage of difficulty among the elders in age group (65+) accounts for (52.70%) of the total

population in the same category, with males making up (24.02%) and females (28.68%).

The survey findings show a significant rise in the percentage of difficulty with the old age (7.78%) for

those who are aged (5+), (10.12%) for those who are aged (20+) and (52.7%) for those who are aged

(65+). This is because the difficulty in young age could be unclear, which leads to under-estimation by

those giving data as they don't realize the difficulty in their children. On the contrary, difficulties began

to appear clearly with the old age because the individuals and those around him feel the impact of these

difficulties on their performance and their participation in society.

The difficulty remarkably increases among Saudi population (65+) due to their health conditions, which lead to

multiple difficulties of moving, looking and hearing as well as the result of chronic diseases among the elders (such

as: diabetes, stress and heart diseases, ... etc...)

As for the percentage distribution of people with disabilities among Saudi population by age groups, the findings

show that the percentage of those with disabilities largely differs among Saudis in different age groups. The lowest

percentage is reported among Saudi children who are aged between 5-19 years-old by (11.16%) and the highest

percentage is reported among Saudis who are aged between 20-65 years-old by (55.86%). This percentage in

age group 65+ reaches (31.14%). The Saudi population with disabilities is distributed among males and females

by (52.2%, 47.8%) respectively.

2-Difficulties and degree of intensity:

As for difficulties by classification and degree of intensity according to Washington Group on Disability Statistics

for those who have one difficulty, which includes six groups and whose intensity degree ranges between (mild -

severe - extreme), the survey findings show that the prevalent difficulty is the visual difficulty (vision) by (46.02%)

of the total Saudi population with disabilities. The intensity degree is estimated by (67.8%, 28.5%, 3.7%)

respectively, followed by mobility difficulty (walking or going up the stairs) by (37.6%) of the total Saudi population

with disabilities. The intensity degree is estimated by (72.4%, 23.5% and 4%) respectively. The least common

difficulty is the personal care "such as bathing, dressing up or using the bathroom" by 1.4% of the total Saudi

population with disabilities. The intensity degree is estimated by (74.3%, 17.7%, 8%) respectively.

As for those with multiple difficulties in the six groups, the survey findings show that the most prevalent difficulty

is the mobility difficulty (walking or going up the stairs) by (29.13%) of the total Saudi population with disabilities.

The intensity degree is ranged between (mild (16.71%), severe (29.22%), extreme (54.07%)), followed by the

visual difficulty (vision) by (24.15%) of the total Saudi population with disabilities. The intensity degree is estimated

by (4.24%, 21.66%, 74.10%) respectively. The least common difficulty is related to the ability to communicate

and understand by (10.25%) of the total Saudi population with disabilities. The intensity degree is estimated by

(20.53%, 26.25%, 53.22%) respectively.

3-Reasons of difficulties among Saudi population with disabilities:

As for those with one difficulty, the survey findings show the following:

(21.3%) of difficulties among Saudi population with one disability are due to birth defects.

(47.5%) of difficulties among Saudi population with one disability are due to illness.

(3.1%) of difficulties among Saudi population with one disability are due to birth-related causes.

(1.4%) of difficulties among Saudi population with one disability are due to pregnancy-related causes.

(3.2%) of difficulties among Saudi population with one disability are due to road accidents.

(8.2%) of difficulties among Saudi population with one disability are due to other accidents such as (falling

or work accidents...).

(15.2%) of difficulties among Saudi population with one disability are due to other causes.

As for those with multiple difficulties, the survey findings show the following:

(54.02%) of difficulties among Saudi population with multiple disabilities are due to illness.

(14.84%) of difficulties among Saudi population with multiple disabilities are due to birth defects.

(5.38%) of difficulties among Saudi population with multiple disabilities are due to birth-related causes.

(2.93%) of difficulties among Saudi population with multiple disabilities are due to road accidents.

causes.

(5.93%) of multiple difficulties among Saudi population with disabilities are due to other accidents such

as (falling or work accidents...).

(14.91%) of multiple difficulties among Saudi population with multiple disabilities are due to other causes.

4-Duration of difficulty among Saudi population with disabilities:

As for the difficulty duration and its impact on Saudi population with disabilities, the survey findings show that:

Those who have one difficulty with a continuing impact (25+) are estimated by (78.66%) of the total Saudi

population with one disability. The type of difficulties that remain with Saudi population with one disability for a

period (25 years and longer) as follows:

1. Mobility difficulties (walking or going up the stairs) by (43.9%)

2. Visual difficulties (vision) by (42.5%)

3. Hearing difficulties by (6.6%)

4. Difficulties related to ability to communicate and understand (3.7%)

5. Difficulties related to ability to remember and concentrate (2.3%)

6. Difficulties related to ability to personal care (1%).

As for the difficulty duration and its impact on Saudi population with disabilities, the survey findings show that:

Those who have multiple difficulties with a continuing impact (25+) are estimated by (84,94%) of the total Saudi

population with multiple disabilities. The type of difficulties that remain with Saudi population with multiple

disabilities for a period (25 years and longer) as follows:

1. Mobility difficulties (walking or going up the stairs) by (30.89%)

2. Visual difficulties (vision) by (26.58%)

3. Hearing difficulties by (13.42%)

4. Difficulties related to ability to personal care (11.04%).

5. Difficulties related to ability to remember and concentrate (9.96%)

6. Difficulties related to ability to communicate and understand (8.11%)

5- Degree of kinship for Saudi population with difficulties:

As for kinship between parents and its impact as a cause of difficulties for Saudi population with disabilities, the

survey findings show that from every 100 Saudi individuals with one difficulty there are around 51 individuals

whose parents have kinship ties, of which 35 individuals whose parents are first-degree relatives and 15

individuals whose parents are connected with other degrees of kinship. The findings can be summarized as

following:

1. The parents of (17%) of Saudi population with one disability are connected with a first-degree relation.

2. The parents of (12.4%) of Saudi population with one disability are connected with a first-degree relation to

the father.

3. The parents of (6%) of Saudi population with one disability are connected with a first-degree relation to the

mother.

4. The parents of (15.2%) of Saudi population with one disability are connected with other kinship.

5. The parents of (49.4%) of Saudi population with one disability don't have any kinship

The findings show that visual difficulty is the highest type of difficulties among Saudi population with one disability,

whose parents are connected with a first-degree relation by (46.8%). The difficulty related to personal care is the

lowest type of difficulties among Saudi population with one disability, whose parents are connected with a first-

degree relation by (1.9%). There are no significant differences attributed to sex in the relation between parents

as for difficulties of Saudi population with one disability.

As for relationship between parents and its impact as a cause of difficulties for Saudi population with multiple

disabilities, the survey findings show that from every 100 Saudi individuals with multiple difficulties there are

around 56 individuals whose parents have kinship ties, of which 37 individuals whose parents are first-degree

relatives and 19 individuals whose parents are connected with other degrees of kinship. The findings can be

summarized as following:

1. The parents of (18.03%) of Saudi population with multiple disabilities are connected with a first-degree

6 - Education status of Saudi population with disabilities:

The survey findings show that the distribution of Saudi population with one disability (10+) by education status

and sex is as follows:

1. Illiterates make up (20.8%) of the total Saudi population (10+) with one disability.

2. Holders of a secondary education certificate or its equivalent make up (19.9%) of the total Saudi

population (10+) with one disability.

3. Holders of a university degree and above make up (17%) of the total Saudi population (10+) with one

disability.

4. Holders of a primary education certificate make up (15.6%) of the total Saudi population (10+) with one

disability.

5. Literates make up (10.2%) of the total Saudi population (10+) with one disability.

6. Holders of an intermediate education certificate make up (9.40%) of the total Saudi population (10+)

with one disability.

7. Holders of a below-university diploma make up (5.4%) of the total Saudi population (10+) with one

disability.

As for distribution of Saudi male population with one disability (10+) by education status and sex, the findings

show the following:

1. Saudi male population with one disability who hold a secondary education certificate or its equivalent

make up (24.2%) of the total Saudi population (10+) with one disability.

2. Saudi male population with one disability who hold a university degree and above make up (20.6%) of

the total Saudi population (10+) with one disability.

3. Saudi male population with one disability who completed primary education make up (18.3%) of the

By comparing the percentage of marriage among Saudis with disabilities, it becomes clear that the

chances of marriage among male population with one disability are higher than females (77.3%),

whether they are married to females with disabilities or females without disabilities. The percentage of

female marriages reaches (58.3%).Looking at the findings by type of difficulty; the survey results show the

highest difficulties for married people with one difficulty as follows:

1. Percentage of married Saudi population (15+) with one disability who have visual difficulties, whether

with glasses or not, reaches (45.7%) of the total married Saudi population (15+) with one disability.

2. Percentage of married Saudi population (15+) with one disability who have walking difficulties reaches

(41.6%) of the total married Saudi population (15+) with one disability.

3. Percentage of married Saudi population (15+) with one disability who have difficulty understanding and

communicating reaches (3.3%) of the total married Saudi population (15+) with one disability.

4. Percentage of married Saudi population (15+) with one disability who have difficulty remembering and

concentrating reaches (1.8%) of the total married Saudi population (15+) with one disability.

5. Percentage of married Saudi population (15+) with one disability who have personal care difficulties

reaches (1%) of the total married Saudi population (15+) with one disability.

(10.4%) of the total Saudi population (15+) with one disability.

As for those with one difficulty by education status, the findings show the following:

1. Total percentage of Saudi population (15+) with one difficulty who are in the work age and with mild

difficulties reaches (71.1%), of which males account for (73.8%) and females (68%).

2. Total percentage of Saudi population (15+) with one difficulty who are in the work age and with severe

and extreme difficulties reaches (28.9%), of which males account for (26.2%) and females (32%).

As for those with multiple difficulties by education status, the findings show the following:

1. Percentage of Saudi male population (15+) with multiple difficulties who are paid workers reaches

(14.7%) and females (1.5%) of the total Saudi population (15+) with multiple difficulties.

2. Percentage of Saudi male population (15+) with multiple difficulties who are seeking work and never

worked before reaches (7.4%) and females (3.1%) of the total Saudi population (15+) with multiple

difficulties.

3. Percentage of Saudi male population (15+) with multiple difficulties who are seeking work and had work

experience reaches (3.6%) and females (0.3%) of the total Saudi population (15+) with multiple

difficulties.

4. Percentage of Saudi male population (15+) with multiple difficulties who are unpaid workers reaches

(0.9%) of the total Saudi population (15+) with multiple difficulties.

5. Percentage of Saudi male student population (15+) with multiple difficulties reaches (2.8%) and females

(1.8%) of the total Saudi population (15+) with multiple difficulties.

As for those with multiple difficulties by education status and intensity of difficulty, the survey findings show the

following:

1. Total percentage of Saudi population (15+) with multiple difficulties who are in work age and with mild

difficulties amounts to (45.5%), of which males make up (48.9%) and females (42.3%).

2. Total percentage of Saudi population (15+) with multiple difficulties who are in work age and with severe

and extreme difficulties amounts to (54.5%), of which males make up (51.1%) and females (57.7%).

It is noted that job seekers in the survey are not subject to conditions and criteria of unemploymen

9 - Suffering from anxiety and depression:

The survey findings show that the percentage of Saudi population with disabilities (15+) who suffer daily anxiety

and depression reaches (4.1%) of the total Saudi population (15+) with disabilities, of which males make up

(2.1%) and females (2%).

It becomes clear that those who use medication for their suffering from anxiety and depression, whether their

suffering is daily, weekly, monthly or on sporadic times during the year, make up (49.4%) of the total Saudi

population (15+) who suffer anxiety and depression.

10 - Services by Ministry of Labor and Social Development for Saudi population with disabilities:

It becomes clear from the survey findings by sex that the percentage of services provided to population with

disabilities by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development reaches (24.46%) of the total Saudi population with

disabilities, of which males make up (11.14%) and females (13.32%).

It becomes clear from the survey findings that the highest percentage of services to Saudi population with

disabilities is the financial services by (83.84%) of the total services. In-kind services make up (9.34%), while the

rest of services ranges between (0.3% and 4%).

It becomes clear from the survey findings by the usual place of residence that the highest percentage of Saudi

population with disabilities (5+) live with their families. The findings show the following:

1. Total percentage of Saudi population with disabilities (5+) who live with their families reaches (98.2%) of

the total Saudi population with disabilities, of which males make up (52%) and females (48%).

2. Total percentage of Saudi population with disabilities (5+) who live with a relative reaches (0.8%) of the

total Saudi population with disabilities, of which males make up (30%) and females (70%).

3. Total percentage of Saudi population with disabilities (5+) who live in a hospital reaches (0.2%) of the

total Saudi population with disabilities, of which males make up (70%) and females (30%).

4. Total percentage of Saudi population with disabilities (5+) who live in a care and rehabilitation center

reaches (0.1%) of the total Saudi population with disabilities, of which males make up (57%) and females

(43%).

5. Total percentage of Saudi population with disabilities (5+) who live in other places of residence reaches

(0.6%) of the total Saudi population with disabilities, of which males make up (46%) and females (54%).
