Director’s Notes…

Is there anyone out there that DOESN’T have a favorite Dr. Seuss

book? I have asked everyone I know and so far, no one has said

they don’t know and love at least ONE of his wonderful works of

art.

The very first thing I did while researching the show, was to read

every book contained in this script, even if it doesn’t play out the

full story in the stage play. I wanted to make sure I was on the

right track, because Dr. Seuss stories are so much more than just

bright colors and whimsical drawings. They are works of art. It’s

poetry with wonderful rhyme schemes and awesome tales woven

into beautiful lessons of life. They teach us everything from the

basic skills in reading. to the consequences one’s decisions can

have on their life. It’s literature that appeals to people of all ages.

I wanted to bring these stories to life on the stage. That’s not hard

to do with the talent I’m blessed with, but I really hope that you

will see another level, another depth to your favorite childhood

books.

I am so lucky to have such wonderful students at my disposal

every summer. One of the many things about my job that brings

me such joy is just to watch these kids grow as performers every

summer. To see my ideas and concepts come to life on that stage.

Some of these faces will be familiar and some are brand new. But

certainly, they have ALL learned something about theatre in our

short time together. I am so proud of what this cast can do, and if

you ask them, I know they will tell you, I demand nothing short of

professionalism both on stage and off. But, that’s only because

my staff and I know they are fully capable of whatever we ask of

them. I hope you enjoy this cast as much I have enjoyed working

with them.

To quote Dr. Seuss,

“Oh the Thinks you can think up, if only you try”. SEUSS!

Audition Notice

The River Raisin Repertory Company will hold its 2015-2016

season company auditions:

Saturday, August 29 @ 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the RRCA

Sunday, August 30 @ 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the RRCA

We are auditioning for company and lead positions for RENT

(November 13, 14, 15) and The All Night Strut (May 6, 7, 8).

Since these are general auditions for our season, please prepare a

16-32 bar musical piece. We will provide an accompanist; no

CD’s please. Also be prepared to learn a short dance audition and

read from the script.

Due to the mature subject of RENT, we ask that those auditioning

are at least 18 years of age.

CALLBACKS for RENT will take place on Thursday, September

3rd @ 7:00 p.m. at the RRCA.

Rehearsals are usually Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings.
