Director of Marketing Start Date: January 15, 2015 Status: Full-Time Salary: Competitive Salary and Bonuses commensurate with experience Submit Résumé to: [email protected] JOB DESCRIPTION The Director of Marketing should be creative minded, have a broad knowledge of the company and each of its departments and constantly look for ways to improve the operation and the experience of our guests. This is a management level position that is involved in the annual planning of the organization. This position will lead the marketing department and is responsible for the overall vision and execution of the company’s marketing initiatives to grow and protect our brand. The Director of Marketing will lead the development of the annual marketing plan and manage its overall execution. This department is responsible for the team’s website development and maintenance, advertising and creative development, public relations, community relations, social media, research customer service and Net Promoter survey. The Marketing Director will report directly to the President and will work closely with Team Owner. This individual will need to possess dedication and a strong work ethic, as this position requires working regular office hours as well as all home games, which will include nights, weekends, and holidays. Major Responsibilities and Representative Tasks: 1. Manage and develop a media plan with team ad agency that include TV, radio, print, digital, outdoor and grassroots, and manage all associated tasks including sponsorship implementation. 2. Manage and grow all social media platforms while developing and implementing creative and interactive strategies. 3. Maximize all marketing cross-promotional opportunities by exploiting all internal marketing opportunities as well as developing a network of local contacts for external opportunities 4. Seek out and establish innovative, creative marketing opportunities for the South Bend Cubs to promote and drive ticket sales 5. Complete marketing design projects as assigned (ability to use Photoshop, Illustrator, Publisher, or other design programs) 6. Develop and build mid-season and year end recaps for all team corporate partners 7. Handle the collection of all proof of performance elements for each corporate partner 8. Ability to handle updating of team website and writing of all team press releases on frequent and consistent basis.

9. Develop relationships with local media personalities and media outlets. This will include working with media to find fun and creative stories/media opportunities to promote team in both regional and national forum.

10. Scheduling and handling of player appearances in the community 11. Scheduling and handling of all mascot appearances 12. Oversee all donation requests and fulfillment 13. Scheduling of team involvement in outside events in surrounding communities with

large gatherings 14. Implement and gather fan surveys on nightly basis along with the coordination and

launch of annual Net Promoter Surveys.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Three to five years related experience in the live sports or entertainment industry is a must

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; degree in Marketing, Business or Communications preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; Knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and/or Illustrator a plus

• Able to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and organize work according to changing priorities while maintaining a focus on department goals

• Attention to detail is a must • Proficiency in writing and editing, and developing marketing collateral • Able to coordinate the work of temporary and intern employees when work

demands require assistance • Ability to think “outside the box” and come up with creative ideas • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to maintain quality working relationships with

several internal departments, especially sales staff, as well as external agencies, media partners, community organizations, etc.

• Personnel and Project Management experience • Must be able to work long, flexible hours including evenings, weekends and

holidays
