Did you come up with something similar to these? I saw Mary. I ate the broccoli. I drank a glass of Kool-Aid. I met your parents.

Whatever you put into the blanks is a direct object.

me, te, nos

If you’ve already seen reflexive verbs, you are familiar with me, te, and nos. The direct object and reflexive forms for these three pronouns are identical. The other pronouns-- lo, la, los, las – look a lot like the articles (except el > lo).

One at a time, please! One at a time, please!

Here are some examples. ¿Tú me ves? María me mira. El profesor me llamó.

In each case, a different subject does something and I am the recipient of that action: Do you see me? Maria looks at me. The teacher called me.

La, lo las, los!La, lo las, los!

¿Dónde compraste el diccionario? >> Lo compré... ¿Dónde está mi pluma? >> La dejaste... ¿Dónde están los caramelos? >> Los comí. In each sentence, we’ve replaced a noun (diccionario, pluma,

caramelos) with a pronoun (lo, la, los): el diccionario >> lo la pluma >> la los caramelos >> los

Note that we place the object pronoun in front of the verb, unlike in English.

Los comí.
