RULES
1) Inverted comma represents
the exact words of a person in a
conversation.
2)Interrogation mark is used to
denote direct questions
Examples
1.He said, “ Why do you come here
to disturb me?”2.“Will you come with me Sir?” He
said opening the door, “I shall have the pleasure of taking you home”.
Here inverted comma is used to mark the beginning and end of direct speech.
Rule ll
An Inverted comma is used for marking off a word or phrase that is being directly quoted from some where else.
Eg. He called this phenomenon “The memory of water”.Eg. Do you know what “Integrated Circuit” means?
Rule 1 Interrogation mark is used for marking direct questions
Eg. 1. What is wrong with you?
Eg. 2. She said “who is there?”
