When we talk about ‘Direct Drill’, we tend to think about sowing grain into undisturbed soil with residual stubble and weeds controlled by chemical. The sowing operation is in fact more specific than this. It is our aim to establish a crop in a single pass operation with minimal soil disturbance. This establishment must be highly ranked in terms of seedling germination and vigour through accurate and controlled seed placement. The soil preparation prior to sowing is independent of sowing and may vary significantly depending on numerous factors, some of which are environmental and others being agronomic.
The sure-strike range of tool bars has evolved from many years of developing direct drill planting equipment. In fact Gyral has been involved in the development of Zero Till or Direct Drill farming practices since 1984. This work has resulted in a purpose built machine with individual planter units using a coulter, tyne and press wheel in a pivoting arm planter assembly. This machine incorporates the features that work in achieving optimum plant establishment and seed placement.

sPECIALIsED DIRECT DRILL - PIvoTING ARm PLANTER AssEmbLY
A pivoting arm frame on the planter assembly gives adequate independent planter assembly control without the added expense of extra pivots involved in the manufacture of a parallelogram. The robust adjustable presswheel assembly controls the coulter and tyne depth. The straight adjustable direct drill tyne assembly provides several opener options to suit specific soil types and agronomic needs. The spring loaded coulter assembly provides several important features.
Gyral is convinced that the use of a fluted coulter gives better soil tilth in a wider range of conditions. When coupled with the spear point and a pneumatic single rib presswheel, the resultant seed/soil contact is excellent ensuring maximum seed germination.
