November, has witnessed the inception of an upcoming grand celebration of DPS-
Miyapur, ‘The Annual Day’ along with a blend of various competitions, exciting activities
and serious academics as well. In this month, DPS-Miyapur also celebrated the ‘Health
and Fitness Week’ from 21st to 24th November, 2017 where various activities and sessions
had been organized related to health and fitness. The month started with a creative
activity, ‘Bulletin Board competition’.
To encourage and enhance the creative skills of the students, DPS-Miyapur conducted a
Bulletin Board competition on 3rd November 2017 for Grades V, VI, and VII. The topic was
’My Vision-Corruption Free India’. The students were judged on the content, creativity
and presentation skills. Grade V B emerged the winners. The judges selected the best
slogans:
1. Say no to corruption. Those who stand for nothing fall for everything.
2. Shame on names who corrupt the country’s fame.
3. An end to corruption is my plan, if you join me, we can.

Fruits and vegetables plays a vital role in the
growth of a child. Keeping this in mind, a ‘Fruit/Veggie
Parade’ Competition for LKG was organized on 7th
November, 2017. Students were dressed in different
accessories which were ingeniously made of real fruits
and vegetables. They also spoke about the importance of
fruits and vegetables. It was a delight to see the little kids dressed up as vegetables and
playing their role to perfection.

‘You don’t have to be a doctor to
save lives’. Keeping this motivating and
inspiring fact in mind, a ‘Blood Donation
camp’ was conducted on 07-Nov-2017,
Tuesday in the school along with The
Indian Red Cross Society. The Red Cross
officials. They checked all the willing
donors from academic and admin staff members for eligibility and took the blood from the
staff members including that of our respected Principal maam.

Creativity comes from trusting your instincts and children possess a natural instinct of
curiosity and creativity and are capable of expressing it from a very young age. The
students of Grade II enthusiastically participated in the “Greeting Card Making Activity”
on 8th, November 2017 organized by DPS-Miyapur. The students made lovely greeting

cards for their beloved family members and also decorated them with handmade flowers,
bow tie and butterflies. They also included a personal message to their family member.
The Science of today is the technology of tomorrow.
To encourage and inculcate a scientific temper among students, the school organized a
‘Science Exhibition’ on 13th Nov 2017 for Grades III - VII. The students were asked to
choose their own topics. The budding scientists of our school presented creative and
unique ideas through their projects. There were a number of still and working models on
display such as Volcano eruption, Electric motor, Room Heater, Air cooler, Floating eggs
in salt water among many others.
The teachers appreciated the novel ideas of the participants. The exhibition provided a
platform for scientific experimentation and innovation to the future scientists. The
enthusiasm and skill clubbed with in depth knowledge was commendable.

The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.
On 14th November, 2017 the students of Grade VI along with the teachers left for
Rajeshwari Old Age Home located at Kukatpally. The students spent a lovely day with the
residents where they entertained them by singing songs, dancing and performing a magic
show. One of the residents also sang a song for the children. Then, the students handed
over the gifts they had taken for them. The students also had an enjoyable interactive
session with the inmates, who were also keen to know about their school, activities and
studies. It was really a humbling experience for all the students who sought blessings from
the elderly people.

On the very same day, 14th November 2017, 20 students from Grade VII had the
opportunity to visit the Mother Teresa’s home for destitutes. The children gained a deep
insight into some of the bitter and disillusioned realities of life which turned out to be an
eye-opener for those who averred on their way back to be always with their parents
through thick and thin. Our school believes in giving first hand experiences to the learners
and to sensitize the young towards the needy who have been neglected. Students offered
utility items and also presented a cultural programme to uplift the spirit of the inmates. It
was really a joyous experience for all the students to visit the hospice and interact with its
inmates.

Childhood is about innocence and playfulness. It is about joy and freedom. Children
are the blessings of God and the future of our country. To make the children feel special
and loved, the teachers conducted a special assembly on the joyous occasion of Children’s
Day on 14th November, 2017. The children thoroughly enjoyed the program and even the
teachers went back to their school days while performing for their children.

On the occasion of Children’s day, a ‘Handwriting Competition’ was organised by
ITC Classmate on 14 Nov 2017 for Class – IV and V students. The main aim of the
competition was to signify the importance of handwriting in students’ academic
performance and achievements. Apart from the competition, Handwriting tips were given
to all the students. The best participants (1st Position) were adjudged from each section on
the basis of their handwriting skills in the competition. Gift hampers were given to all the
winners.

To engage students and test them intellectually, ‘Mind Boggle’ competition was
organised on 15thNov 2017 for Grade – II Students. The Preliminary round was conducted
on 8th Nov 2017 and four students from each section were selected for the final round. The
kids had to solve the logical puzzles, search for words and find the difference between two
pictures. The participants were adjudged on the basis of their ability to answer the
questions framed in the competition.

On 17th November, 2017, a Field Trip was organized for the children of Pre-Primary
sections. The yellow school buses packed with 245 little ones and teachers headed for
Shilparamam, Madhapur. It was the most incredible place to watch with the beautiful
ambience of tradition and culture. The students got a chance to have a glimpse of a village
life. Students could also connect to the topic from their books on community helpers and
relate to models like Barber, Astrologer, and Blacksmith etc.

On 20th November 2017, DPS-Miyapur conducted an interactive session on ‘First Aid
Learning’ for. The aim of the session was to create awareness of the various accidents that
can happen in school and the ways to prevent them as well as to deal with them. Dr.
Nirmala, the Health officer from Red Cross Society graced the session with her
informative talk on first aid. She spoke on the different types of injuries that take place in
the sports field or a laboratory like burns, cuts, leg sprain, ankle twist, nosebleed, hurting,
insect bite or stings etc and how to act on them. She also discussed the various techniques
of giving first aid and the follow-up care. It was a highly informative and engaging session
where the students asked a lot of queries and the health officer answered them all with
utmost patience.

“Health & Nutrition”. Mr Chandra Shekhar, Consultant at TOI, explained about the
importance of nutrients in the human body. He also discussed several topics like usage of
plastic should be avoided, Pressure cooker should not be used while cooking, Five pillars
of optimal health and so on. Several guidelines were also given for superior nutrition like
Chew the food properly, do not sleep immediately after eating food and many more. It
was a fruitful and informative session for the students.

As a part of the health and fitness week, Grade-III to VII hosted a special assembly
on Aerobics on 23rd November, 2017. The main objective of the assembly was to spread
awareness on the benefits of different physical activities like swimming, walking, running,
cycling, boxing and even clapping. They also emphasized the benefits of doing aerobics
which includes improving the cardiovascular fitness, blood circulation, increase in energy,
reduce in the risk of heart disease and diabetes and many more. The children also
performed a spectacular dance that enthralled everyone. Overall, it was a commendable
show.
On 24th November, 2017, the children of Grade I had a fun filled activity on ‘Plants
Around Us’- a project by Butterfly Fields. The children were provided with kits, each
containing a base to make a garden, pictures of different types of plants, stickers to label
the parts of the plants and a plant finder game. The teachers gave instructions to the
children as to how to assemble the parts and the children did the activity all by
themselves. They were all happy and excited to learn new things through this activity. In

this process, they experienced hands on learning. It also gave them an opportunity to take
responsibility for their own learning.
To test and enhance the logical and reasoning aptitude of the students, a
competition titled, ‘Numerical and Logical Reasoning’ was conducted for the students of
Grade VII on 29th November, 2017. The entire class participated in this competition, where
they were given a set of numerical and logical questions to solve within a stipulated period
of time.

DPS Hyderabad.
First they watched a documentary which highlighted the evolution of the Tata Group of
Industries. Then they went to see the exhibits and gained knowledge on Tata’s business,
life, vision and his contribution to India.
It was an eventful November. As we are all set to
soak in the jubilant mood of Christmas and New Year
celebrations, it is our kind advice to all of you to be more
vigilant about the academics of the students as the final
exams are just two months away.
