Presented by Sachin Rehan

DVIS Product Overview

• The DVIS line of products are network-edge local content insertion devices for digital video networks

DVIS

DVISn

DVISm

Any application requiring locally generated baseband analog

content to be delivered within a property provisioned with digital

only TVs, STBs or DTAs or where analog spectrum is not available

• Security or surveillance camera feeds (MDU’s, retirement

homes, etc.)

• Text/character generator or local information channel (hotels,

conference centers, gated communities, etc.)

• ‘Custom’ insertion of encrypted digital channels to a

commercial property lineup (I.e. insertion of specialty channels

to a hotel lineup)

• Distribution of ‘in-house’ or private channels throughout a

property (I.e. sports stadiums, network studios)

DVIS Applications

‘Old’ way – Analog System

‘New’ way – Digital System

• QAM modulated carrier on each EIA frequency

• Multiple programs per QAM carrier

• Virtual channel map instructs STB which frequency to

tune to and which MPEG program from multiplex to select for display

‘New’ way – Digital System

ATX Digital Video Insertion Products

Form Factor

• MDU hardened wall mount solution – no need to install a wall

rack

• All connections & interfaces located on front panel and are

concealed behind a lockable door

DVIS Advantages

• Rack mount ‘ears’

available for rack mount

applications

Integrated RF management

• All RF connections, directional couplers

and leads are built-in for ‘add/drop’ type

application

• No need for external RF splitting or

combining with additional DCs, external

filters, jumpers, etc.

• SIGNIFICANTLY SIMPLIFIES AND

REDUCES TOTAL INSTALL TIME AND

COST

• Input and output test points for

installation and troubleshooting without

disruption of RF signal

DVIS Advantages

Scalability & Modularity

• PCI based expansion cards allow for easy field upgrade up to

4 (DVISm) or 8-10 (DVIS) channels plus demod functionality

DVIS Advantages

• Hot-swappable cards to

eliminate any service

interruption

• Removable fans, power

supply, filter, encoder

and demod cards for

easy field upgrade,

maintenance or

replacement

Filter Expertise

• ATX has been manufacturing and selling filters to the cable

industry (previously as PCI filters) for over 10 years

− Invested significant R&D effort to optimize filter tuning for DTA environment

− Current best performing filter on market (competitive filter performance is questionable at high freqs)

• One Stop Shop

− Can order DVISm with encoder card(s), demodulator card and

deletion filter with 1 part number

− No need to deal with multiple vendors for support on various

components of insertion solution

HTTP based GUI

• No need for proprietary software to be installed on technicians’

computers – GUI runs on any standard internet browser (ex. IE)

DVIS Advantages

• Graphic ‘tree’ display of

QAM content

• Intuitive menus and

controls

• 1-click ‘drop’ program

feature with automatic

PID value determination

• FW updates via

windows style local file

browsing

Other software features

• Dynamic PID monitoring feature

Will automatically detect and apply program and/or PID level changes within the inserted QAM

Truck roll / re-config necessary for competitive equipment whenever changes in QAM occur

• Bulk configuration upload and download

Allows for creation and download of a custom configuration for subsequent upload to units designated for installation in the same service area

• Remote management capable via cable modem FW updates and other troubleshooting can be done without a truck roll

DVIS Advantages

DVIS Advantages

• 1 – 2 channel encode only (no demod)

• Ultra cost effective & compact

• No integrated RF management

• Not yet approved at Comcast – pending evaluation

Commitment to Service

• Provide on-site training for trainers, supervisors and lead technicians for systems new to DVIS

– Also provide follow-up ‘webinars’ for technicians and

contractors

• Provide on-site ‘first install’ support if desired

• Always reachable and reactive to customer

questions, issues and suggestions for product improvements

DVIS Advantages
