Press the AUDIO buttonon the remote control and select the AC3 audio channel.CAUTION: Please turn down the volume of your surround system and increase the volumecarefully!

Time settings

Correct time settings are especially important for VCR recordings. The programme times aretransmitted via the satellites, but have to be adjusted to the time zone of the place of installation.• Settings: We recommend selecting the “AUTO” setting. The receiver obtains the time data via

satellite. Select “Manual” if you are receiving a satellite which does not transmit EPG data.• Time zone/Time difference: Select the time zone of the place of installation, in German-speaking

countries “Berlin”. The time difference to GMT (+ 1 hour) is automatically set.• Summer time: Switch the summer time on or off.• Time/Date: For checking purposes or manual input if no EPG data is provided by the channel.

Timer settings

This menu contains an overview of the 8 timer positions and the possibility to manually add timers.• Timer number: Use the VOL (+/-) buttons to select the desired timer (1- 8).• Channel: Press the VOL button and subsequently select the desired channel from the list via the

CHANNEL (Up/Down) buttons.• Date: In case of manual programming enter the date (e.g. 7 November 2005) as an 8-digit

number: [0] [7] [1] [1] [2] [0] [0] [5]. Corrections are possible via the VOL buttons.• Start time: Start of the programme/recording in 24-hour format.• Duration: The duration of the programme in hours and minutes. If you wish to record a 90-minute

programme, enter 01:30 (1 hour:30 minutes) as the duration period. Please always set theduration period to record for longer than necessary in case there is a programme overrun.

• Type: It is possible to set whether the programme should be watched or recorded once, daily orweekly.

• Reception (TV/VCR): Finally set whether you wish to record the programme via a VCR or to watchthe programme at the selected time:Live: The receiver switches to the marked channel at the selected time. This type of programmingis useful if you do not wish to miss a certain programme.Recording: The TV picture remains unchanged at the start of the programme, except for a shortmessage which states that recording has started. Please check, if necessary, whether the VCRhas changed to the recording mode.

10. EnvironmentPassword setup

Certain programmes and parts of the OSDcan then only be opened after entering the 4-digit password.• Option “Setup and channel”: The OSD and locked channels can only be opened after entering

the password.• Option “Setup”: Password protection for the OSD, free access to all channels.• Option “Child protection off”: Free access to the OSD and channels.

Change password

The preset password is 0000. Enter the old number combination once and the new password twice tochange the password. Please remember the new password! Do not use a date of birth – these pass-words are generally unsafe. Always use words which are easy to remember instead, use the letters onthe buttons of the remote control: For example, the word “House” would have the following numbercombination: [ 4 ] [ 6 ] [ 8 ] [ 7 ] [ 3 ].

Reset

There are three possibilities to reset the device:• Factory setting: The device is reset to the state of delivery with the original settings and channel

lists.• Delete all channel lists: The device setting is unchanged and all channel lists are deleted.• Basic setting: Resets all device settings and pre-settings, your own channel lists remain

unchanged.

Information

This menu page contains all the important address, hardware and software information. Please havethe data at hand if you ever have to contact our telephone hotline!

Software upgrade

There are several reasons for keeping the software up-to-date: To improve functionality viainnovations, to remedy faults or reception problems caused by the channel.CAUTION: It is imperative that BOTH tuner inputs (LNB1 + LNB2) are connected to the

antenna! The antenna has to be aligned to ASTRA 19.2° east!

The search for the latest software version can take a few minutes. If no software is found afterapprox. 30 minutes, the device already has the latest software version. Repeat the process if youwish to (e.g. weekly) or in case of faults.Select the following possibilities:• OTA update (complete): The system software, including all the channels and settings, is

overwritten.• OTA update (without channel lists): Only the system software is updated, the channels and

device settings remain unchanged.Note: This function is optional!

• Serial update: Load the system software via the receiver's serial interface (RS232, COM Port). The software and further details can be downloaded at http://www.skymaster.de/.

11. RecorderWatch TV and simultaneously record via the VCR

Your receiver is equipped with two separate reception components which allow independentrecording via a VCR and playback via the TV set.Use the [TV<->VCR] button to check which channel is transmitted to the VCR via the receiver's VCRScart output. “Vcr” is displayed on the front panel of the device; if you press the button once morethe device returns to the TV mode and the channel position, e.g. P0001 is displayed. The functional indicators “VCRSignal” and “TVSignal” are also located on the front panel of thedevice. They display the activity of both reception components.

VCR channel list

Open the “Environment” menu(blue button) and the “Timer settings” submenu to check or change the recording settings. Theselection of the recording duration “until the end of the current programme” is only available forchannels with EPG!

VCR status: The VCR receiver has no OSD or similar display as this would also be recorded. However, you can request the current status by selecting the “Recorder” menu (white button) and themenu item “Status”.

12. TroubleshootingNo antenna signal (no signal indicator at the device and via the signal indicators in the OSD):

1. Firstly, check the antenna cable: The screening braid and the aluminium foil should have contact with the F plugand should not touch the inner conductor!

2. Please check the LNB settings. LNB1 should be set for ASTRA satellites. If you are using a common digital LNB,the values 9750 MHz and 10600 MHz have to be set for the lower and upper frequencies. Directly connect theLNB to the receiver and remove the selector and distributor for troubleshooting.

Malfunctioning

1. The device displays incorrect programme times in the EPG or the wrong time: After switching on the receiver thedata has to be read and evaluated first. Depending on the transponder, this procedure can take a certain amountof time. Sometimes it may even be necessary to restart the EPG or to switch the channel position.

2. The device does not respond: The receiver has to process numerous amounts of data and sometimes respondsto this just like your PC: It crashes. Switching channels while receiving EPG data or “incomprehensible” datafrom the channel provider can cause the receiver to crash. Simply disconnect the mains plug and wait a fewseconds before reconnecting the device. If a software fault occurs, you can load a software update into thereceiver via satellite within a short period of time.

Only a few channels

1. The antenna has been aligned to an incorrect satellite position. During antenna alignment it is possible to receiveone of the numerous satellites which transmit on similar frequencies and address the receiver's signal indicators. This results in foreign channels and the message “No signal” often appearing when switching channels. It isusually sufficient to rotate the antenna just a few degrees – eastwards or westwards – to receive the desiredchannels.

2. Please check whether you have activated the correct channel list. To achieve this, press the BROWSE button toopen the channel list and then press the F or E buttons to select the desired channel list (e.g. “All satellites”).
