The Falcons lost the only meeting between the two programs, a 12-9 decision on April 4 of last season.

Illinois Wesleyan built a 7-1 lead after the first quarter and held off a late charge by CUW, who got to within two goals twice in the fourth period. Matt Garvey scored a pair of goals, while James Warner had a goal and three assists. Statistics were even across the box score, but Illinois Wesleyan had a slight edge in faceoff wins (14-10).
