Digital Photo Story Criterion Sheet What is Digital Storytelling? “Digital Storytelling is the modern expression of the ancient art of storytelling. Digital stories derive their power by weaving images, music, narrative and voice together, thereby giving deep dimension and vivid color to characters, situations, experiences, and insights. Tell your story now digitally.” - Leslie Rule, Center for Digital Storytelling Premise-You have joined self-selected groups based on interest. Now it is your turn to create a group autobiography of your topic of interest using Microsoft Photo Story. Your story should be no more than 4 minutes long. Story-The most important aspect of this assignment is to tell an original story using images. Before using the computer, create your storyboard on paper constructing a beginning, middle, and end. For example, if your group has decided on a certain musical genre that appeals to everyone then you may decide to create the story on the mood the music creates for each of the group members. The group should come to a consensus about the story. Your story should have a purpose, be organized, engage the audience, and be sequenced appropriately. Images-In order to tell a complete story, you will need a lead picture/slide introducing the story title, images that follow to fully develop the story, and a credits picture/slide with group members and their contributions. Please use a mixture of original digital images and internet/clipart images. Transitions/Text Overlay/Narration-Narration is optional due to the lack of microphones in the computer lab. Text overlays and transitions are required. Please add transitions and text overlay tastefully and as needed. The images themselves should tell the story while the text overlays and transitions enhance and amplify the story itself. Music-Music is a requirement of the digital photo story project. The number of images imported is the number of musical selections you may have. For example, if you use 5 pictures then you may use 5 songs. Please choose tasteful musical selections that enhance and amplify the story itself. Choose your selections based on the mood your story creates. Files you can upload to Photo Story o Pictures- jpeg, png, gif (Power point slides can be converted to gifs) Due Date: April 15 & 16th
