• Observe the length and the arrangement of the digestive tract from start to finish

• Investigate the role of villi and microvilli in absorbing nutrients into the bloodstream

• Contrast mechanical and chemical digestion• Reenact the role of each digestive structure as

food passes down the length of the digestive tract

What is digestion?

• Mechanical Digestion: the breakdown of food into smaller pieces

• Chemical Digestion: the breakdown of molecules into smaller molecules using enzymes
