BREAKFAST WITH SANTA

This event took place at the “Old Country Inn” 8:30 - 10:00AM on Saturday

December 3rd.

Unionville is a very small town in Markham so having an event like

breakfast with Santa is easy to advertise.

Organizers simply put it on the Unionville BIA website, notified

surrounding business and regular costumers of the Old Country Inn.

When advertising events in smaller towns such as this one your best call is

to simply have local business owners to pass the word on to customers.

Posters in local businesses are also quite effective.

CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE 3

The most highly anticipated game of the year was released on Tuesday November

8th at exactly 12am.

Eager buyers lined up as early as the day before in order to be part of the historic

experience.

The promotion done for this game launch was huge anything from the call of duty

website, Facebook, call of duty elite, Xbox, ign,ps3, as well as flyers and promos.

A commercial pitting the NOOB and the Vet was also run in order to help in this

gaming experience.

The amount of marketing and promotion done is to make sure that the game hits a

huge audience.

OLDE TYME CHRISTMAS PARADE

“Olde Tyme Christmas” candlelight Parade took place Friday,

December 2nd at 7PM on Unionville’s Main Street!

Since this event also took place in the very small Town of

Unionville most of the advertisement was done at local stores

and adds on snap.

Unionville was also featured on breakfast television which

put Unionville on the spot light and gave them exposure to the

public.

The Seneca Student Federation sold tickets worth around $60-70

for $40.

When advertising the sale of such tickets Markham campus is

always the first one to sell out. Since it’s such a small campus

advertising through word of mouth, which happens to be the most

effective form of advertisement, is easy.

Creative ways of advertisement are needed to attract students, or

any one for that matter nowadays. Things such as goofy videos that

make you laugh are something you would want to share with

friends.

FREE GRILLED CHEESE

FREE GRILLED CHEESE

Because of people’s complaints about how pricy caff food is, the Seneca

Student Federation decided that in order to keep students happy they

would have to do something about it .

Events such as free grilled cheese do not need much advertisement

Online tools such as the SSF Facebook page are not use, but it is posted

on the online calendar www.ssfinc.ca.

Most of the advertisements for free food event is done through the

street team. The street team consists of volunteers who walk around the

school letting their friend and peers know about events going on. So the

great majority of advertisement in this case is word of mouth

November 16th at 11AM.

In order to advertise this event Facebook, twitter and other online

resources were used.

Posters were also put up and around the school but because of how

busy everyone always seems to be a couple people missed them. In

order to have as many people as possible participating last minute

recruiters walked around the school.

2 of our last minute recruiters were Sammy sting (our REC mascot) as

well as Yorkie (UW mascot) who walked around meeting and greeting

students for a good portion of the morning.

RETRO GAME DAY

RETRO GAME DAY

November 17th the SSF held a retro game day in

the kickback.

There usually isn’t much more advertisement than

posters on the calendars.

But most people already know the SSF holds at

least one retro game day a month and they look out

for it on the calendar.

SENECA COLLEGE KING CAMPUS

SENECA COLLEGE KING OPEN HOUSE

On Saturday November 19th 2011 Seneca College King campus held its

annual open house.

The open house is an opportunity for perspective students to come and visit

Seneca and see what it has to offer to them.

The event was promoted by Seneca Colleges Liaison and Recruitment

department through a website called your future @ Seneca.  The website gets

students to sign up to the event as well as get connected to the college.

The other promotional tool the recruiters use is a postcard handout which

gave the dates of the open house with the schedule on it.  This is a great way

to promote this style of event as there are students coming from all across

Ontario

107T H SANTA CLAUS PARADE

107T H SANTA CLAUSE PARADE

On Sunday November 20th 2011 the 107th Santa Claus Parade took place in

Downtown Toronto.

There is very limited publicity or information available to the public.  There is

a website which anyone can visit as well as some info on Facebook.

This event has been happening for a great number of years now and has not

really grown in size or brought anything new to the forefront.

I believe that if there was some better advertising, giveaways/ incentives

people would be more inclined to attend.  If there was a way to make it an event

geared toward youth as well as young adults, maybe incorporating free food,

hot chocolate or something like that more would be interested in coming
