Cooperation with China (CAAS, ASAG)

• The overall objective of the MyToolBox project is to develop a series of integrated measures, which will enable a significant reduction in losses of crops due to fungal and mycotoxin contamination. Depending on the commodity and the type of intervention, the achievable reductions range from 20-90%.

• The consideration of the entire chain (soil-field-crop-food processing-waste management-alternative energy) to ensure food & feed security and safety within a sustainable economic environment, is the major ambition behind MyToolBox. The outcomes of the project including novel interventions will be assembled in a web-accessible MyToolBox e-platform that provides multiple information to support decision-making in mycotoxin management.

• Within this multi-actor approach partners from industry (43% of consortium) including 5 end users from the farming community (including individual farmers), agronomists and professionals working in agriculture and food manufacturing have already been involved in the project planning and will collaborate closely with the Technology SMEs and partners from academia at all stages of the various work packages.

• The variety of complementary approaches to be pursued in the MyToolBox project address all the specific challenges mentioned in the EU-Call SFS-13-2015 and will increase the productivity and competitiveness of the EU-agri-food and feed sector whilst securing safe food crops at minimum mycotoxin levels.

• Administrative Unterstützung (inkl. Finanzen) – 800 h (20 Wochen): ca. 20.000 Euro

• Koordination durch Wissenschafter (senior post-doc): 800 h: ca. 30.000 Euro

Gesamtkosten für Vorbereitung: ca. 60.000 Euro

Förderung für das IFA-Tulln: 981.000 Euro (davon 195.000 Euro für Overheads)

Zulage für Koordinatoren: 8.000 Euro pro Jahr(??)

Fazit 2: Zeitschiene

• von den ersten Gesprächen (11/2013) bis zur Info über postive Evaluierung (11/2015): 2 Jahre

• + 4 Monate zum Projektstart = 1.3.2016

• Evaluierung 2 + 5 Monate (Stage 1 +2)

• mit gut ausgearbeitetem Stage 1 Proposal kann man schnell ein Stage 2 Proposal erstellen

Ist ein EU-Projekt eine Lotterie und ist es den Aufwand wert?

• Ausschließlich angewandte Forschung, sehr enge inhaltliche Vorgaben

• Wirtschaftliche Umsetzbarkeit!

• Make more enemies than friends!

• Auch mit einem Score von 10 oder 11 kann man erfolgreich sein

• Riesiger Unterschied: Koordinator oder Partner

• Idealerweise übernimmt man die Rolle eines WP-Leaders mit ähnlich hohem Budget wie Koordinator

• Sichtbarkeit des Koordinators ungleich größer
