A Remoska is an electric mini-oven with the cooking element housed in the lid. It consists of a Teflon lined pan and a stand in addition to the lid mounted heating element. It originated in the Czech republic. The first Remoska prototypes were made in 1953-1955In 2001 Remoska was awarded the prize of the invention by Good Housekeeping MagazineLady Milena Grenfell-Baines, a Czech living in England since the second world war war, became interested in the Remoska and she started importing to Britain.

Modern contact lenses were invented by Otto Wichterle, from the town of Prostějov. By late 1961 he succeeded in producing the first four hydrogel contacat lenses on a home-made apparatus built using a children's building kit (Merkur) and a bicycle dynamo belonging to one of his sons, and a bell transformer. All the moulds and glass tubing needed to dose them with monomer were also individually made by himself. He is also regarded as the founder of macromolecular chemistry.

Externism is a fictional philosophical theory proposed by the famous fictitious Czech genius Jára Cimrman. This character appears in many plays by authors from the Jára Cimrman Theatre in Prague. The first act of the theatre performances is usually filled with a lecture on Cimrman's personality, followed by a theatre play, which is pretended to be written by this fictional author.
