The architecture, as we believe, can no longer be perceived as a homogenous unity, but rather a sum of independent systems which, together, create an architectural space. This outlook has its roots in the theory of Gottfried Semper, which was the main inspiration of this project. His theory of dressing separates the structure - tectonics from cladding which defines the limits of the space.
Our proposal is based on the tension between those two, autonomous systems. The sym-metrical structure in form of two wooden frames contrast to meandering walls which
provide enclosure, defining different spaces.
The two systems collide producing interesting, architectural moments: the pillars in the middle of the narrow space strengthening its verticality or a single pillar in the cell which becomes the meaning through its asymmetrical placement.
In our proposal neither the structure nor the walls define the space; the architecture arise between those two categories.
