One of the key features of our Sixth Form is the huge variety of extra- curricular opportunities available to you. We have a range of roles for paid employment as a lunch time supervisor, encore instructor, life guard or swimming teacher and through the Edge box office. We also have opportunities for students to support KS3 and KS4 pupils as a reading mentor or academic mentor which is rewarded with an Amazon voucher every term. As well as positions of responsibility within the Sixth Form such as President and Vice President, Activities and Charities team, Media and Publicity team, Sports captains and many more. Over the course of an academic year you can expect be part of some very successful fund raising events such as Macmillan, Sport Relief, and Stand up for Cancer as well as the annual Christmas and Summer parties at popular venues around Shropshire to let your hair down. If you enjoy trips then there are plenty of those to get involved in also, whether it’s to local universities, careers events or related to your academic courses, and even some just for fun. At William Brookes Sixth Form we believe in developing the WHOLE individual, making enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities just as important as academic ones. William Brookes Sixth Form Open Evening is fast approaching, with the opportunity to come and speak to staff and students about the vast array of subjects and enrichment on offer.

Viva la Coldplay are back on Saturday 3 November for a Friends of William Brookes gig night! If you have seen the band at Theatre on the steps you will know they are fantastic and well worth £10.00 for the ticket!

BIOLOGY SUPPORT GROUP

There will be a biology support group after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for KS4 & KS5 students needing help with homework, revision or any other information regarding the subject.

CROSS COUNTRYCongratulations to the cross country teams who took part in the Telford Schools League this term. We had some strong competitors and lots of high places but Isabelle Price (London 7) managed to bag herself Gold for the Year 8 girls category and Louix Tziortzis-Foskett (Athens 5) won Silver in the Year 10/11 boys group.

The Year 10/11 girls also won the team event, showing consistency and dedication. Well done to everyone that took part!

ROTARY YOUTH PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

If you are interested in photography and have a chance to win a prize? Your task is to produce a portfolio of three photographs based upon the theme, ‘Beauty of Nature’ in colour or black and white on photographic paper. Mobile Phones may be used.
