The kitchen garden

program has

featured very

prominently in

2019. We are very

excited about a

2020

intergenerational

community

connection with an

organisation that

supports the

elderly.

BACK TO SCHOOL

DAY

FOR

BRIDGET MERRETT

A collaborative initiative between The South

Australian Primary Principal’s Association and the

Department for Education is the opportunity for

staff in Central Office to spend a day in a school

and to gain operational insights into a normal

school day. All staff spent time with Bridget

Merrett, Senior Communications Adviser

(internal) Department for Education to exchange

ideas around communications and future

possibilities. Bridget is now a Fulham Gardens

Primary School Ambassador

STUDENT SUMMARY REPORTS Staff has spent a considerable amount of time

working on end of year summary reports, Outlining

student progress and achievement. These will be

distributed in week 9 along with class placement

letters.

NATIONAL SCHOOL

CHAPLAINCY PROGRAM

UPDATE All schools across Australia recently submitted

applications to continue or begin their

involvement with the National School Chaplaincy

Program from 2020 to 2022. Unfortunately

Fulham Gardens Primary School was

unsuccessful. This sadly means Sally

Henderson’s placement in our school which is

tied to the funding will cease at the end of 2019.

Student wellbeing and that of our community

members will continue to be a priority and we

will continue to seek ways of ensuring this

continues so students, staff and parents and

supported. We will formally farewell Sally at the

end of the year.

NEW RECEPTION CHILDREN

VISIT

What a special

moment for our

new 2020

reception

children. Their

transition into

school involves

3 extended

visits so as to

orientate and

familiarise

themselves

with the class,

the school and

other students.

On this visit,

they were able

to enjoy a

special moment

in the resource

centre and

spend some

time with

reading and

books with Mr

Del Bono.

LOST PROPERTY.PLEASE LOOK

The amount of lost property grows daily and we

have a mini tub filled with an assortment of

jumpers, tops, containers and drink bottles.

Please pop in and have a look and claim what

could be that missing item.

2020 CLASS PLACEMENT The class placement process is never an easy

process. We aim to ensure placements factor in

student learning, social and emotional needs and

parent requests. I am hoping that all staff will have

been appointed by the time classes are finalised.

TARANATHA ART EXHIBITION

Flavia: Today we went to the art gallery to visit

the Tarnanthi exhibition which showcases

Aboriginal Artwork from around Australia. I learnt

about different styles of Aboriginal Art work

including print making, realism, dot painting and

totems. I enjoyed looking at the artwork and

finding stories behind it.

Manha: It was interesting learning about how modern

Aboriginal Artists have changed techniques to make new colours and learning how each piece of art has its own story. After looking through the art gallery we got to participate in our own printmaking workshop to

make our own shapes. That was really fun.

Hayley: There was one artwork about milk fish that was my favourite. There were painted sticks with a

projector showing milk fish. If you lay down on the

floor the milk fish swam around you. It was very cool. I enjoyed learning new things about artists and trying

new experiences in artwork.
