DESCRIPTION
OVERBURDEN
INTERMEDIATE TO MAFIC FRAGMENTALS
- unit composed of numerous ash tuff to tuff breccia size fragmentals
and minor intercalated greywacke and argillite
- bedding of sediments is at 60 to core axis, example 49.5
- weak to moderate foliation and elongation (alignment?) of fragments
at 600 to core axis
- unit exhibits highly variable colouration due to alteration and a
variety of fragment types. Colour ranges from dark green to yellow
green to peach orange
- fragments are generally subround to subangular, locally insitu
brecciation is the cause of fragmentation.
- fragment types observed are; massive mafic, chloritized and
carbonatized; amygdaloidal intermediate, yellow green, sericitic
and silicitized; intermediate, peach orange; other various coloured
fragments, between the above mentioned types, occur.
- sericitic and carbonate alteration range locally from moderate to
strongly pervasive
- minor quartz/carbonate veining occurs locally
- 1-22 pyrite occurs locally as semi-col loform blebs and disseminations
fault gouge: 46.2 - lcm wide at 700 to core axis, parallel to foliation
63.8: foliation and elongation at 650 to core axis

DESCRIPTION
122.5 - 138.8: dominantly sericitic, with 302! darker chloritic and
carbonatized material
- foliation moderate, locally reaches a strong intensity at 750 to
core axis- from 115.0 - 138.8 foliation is moderate to strong with patchy
alternating alteration, the stronger foliation makes this interval
noticeably different from surrounding rock. In this interval
fragments and sediments cannot be distinguished
127.75 - 128.10: 35 cm quartz/carbonate stockwork, chloritic inclusion;
11 pyrite
130.8 - 131.1: quartz/carbonate stockwork, chloritic inclusions
131.5 - 131.7: as above
131.75 - 132.1: ash tuff and ash beds, very fine bedding at 70" to core
axis, 12 disseminated pyrite occurs, in some beds. Fining downhole occurs,
indicating tops are downhole. Beds range from 0.5mm to cm size.
144 - 147.0: highly broken core, 0.30 metres lost core, fault at 145.5, 8cm
ground rock and paste

- 3-43! carbonate dumping
- weak to moderate pervasive sericite, strong fracture controlled sericite
- chlorite can reach strong intensity locally and is generally weakly
pervasive
Veining:
- S-5% quartz and/or carbonate veining occurs, generally in irregular masse
and stockwork type injection.
- a dark siliceous material forms the majority of the veining, it has
irregular contacts and forms in the most foliated intervals

DESCRIPTION
- pyrite occurs throughout from 2-42, forms as disseminations and
subround nodules in semi-bands orientated in the plane of foliation
commonly occuring with carbonate and silica rich stockwork material
296.0 - 298.9: strongly foliated interval, strongly sericitic and
carbonatized, foliation can be highly irregular but generally 70-800
