Our Homes

Torre House encompasses three areas of expertise;offering specialist residential dementia care, it catersfor residents with nursing needs, as well as care for theelderly and frail who don’t currently require any nursingcare. Kingsmount provides dedicated and specialistresidential dementia care while Mount Olivetaccommodates residents with first class nursing carefor those with higher or specialist nursing care needs;including those in need of quality end of life care.

Reflected in our regulators care quality commission‘excellent and good’ ratings, our resident care plans arecarefully devised, regularly reviewed and mostimportantly, needs-led. Understanding that appropriateresidential and nursing care also includes first classhome cooked meals, an abundance of socialengagements and high quality entertainment, ourpassion for our resident’s medical and social well-beingis evident throughout the homes.

Our philosophy is to provide a happy andcomfortable home and to ensure thatour residents’ lives are as fulfilled withus as they might be with their families.So, each room is tailored to reflectindividual requirements with uswelcoming personal belongings includingfurniture. Anything that will make MountOlivet feel like a ‘home from home’ isencouraged, while there’s the additionalsecurity of knowing that our fully trainedstaff are available around the clock.

Our immaculate accommodation includescosy, electronically operated full profilingbeds with Egyptian cotton bed linen inevery room, television points in all

rooms, nurse call systems, most withen-suite facilities and access to assistedbaths and showers, lifts to all floors,light and airy lounges and dining areas,as well as a hairdressing salon. Theconservatory, with its gloriouspanoramic views over Torbay is awonderful place to meet friends andfamily or enjoy some quiet time witha book. We also have WiFi for thosewishing to go online for entertainmentor contacting family and friends.

Understanding that a good social lifeis as important as medical attention ina care home environment, at MountOlivet, we encourage social interactionamongst our residents as well asfriends and relatives visiting regularlyand at any time. For those residentswho do not receive regular visits andare unable to mix socially with otherresidents, we arrange for a professional“tea-time visitor” to drop in on regularafternoon visits.

All of our residents including those withdementia, old age or physical disabilityare encouraged to get involved with orhelped to continue a hobby, or evenstart a new one. Clubs include flowerarranging, painting and gardening orjust enjoy our visiting entertainers.

Standing as an impressive Victorianbuilding, Kingsmount was an original partof the Oldway Estate. With 30 bedroomsmany with en-suite facilities, all have beentastefully furnished in keeping with thegrand surroundings and, despite the luxuryof these rooms, the ambience is centredon the comfort and well-being of ourresidents, so we actively encourage themto stamp their own individual personalityon the room with their own furniture orbelongings from home, offering theadditional security of familiarity.

Torre House’s extensive views over Torquayand Torbay provide an impressive backdrop toour comprehensively equipped private nursingand residential home. With distinctive individualcare plans established for every resident, TorreHouse provides exceptionally supportive carefor older people, as well as expert care forpeople with dementia. Qualified staff at the

home take an active interest in specialist areasof care, with training in areas such as dementia,nutrition and the promotion of continence.

Set high on the hill in Chelston, Torre House’sextensive premises have been lovingly restoredto create a real ‘home from home’ atmospherefor residents who are encouraged to bring their

own furniture or personal items such

as photo frames or figurines, to

inspire a real feeling of belonging.

And, as part of the Devon Care

Residents can also enjoy the beautifullandscaped garden, light and airylounge and dining areas as well as ahairdressing salon. Torre House alsoprovides extra help with the additionalservices of chiropody, opticians andaromatherapy as do all our homes.

Food plays an integral role at our care homes,with our dedicated head cook establishing atantalising menu of traditional, home cookedmeals and involving our residents in all culinarydecisions- even down to details like thethickness of gravy.

The importance of a warm, inviting environmentis encapsulated in everything our head cook

produces, creating nourishing dishes on ourpremises from locally sourced seasonal produce.

Integrated into our philosophy of care is regularoccupational therapy. And, offering individualand group therapy, we include music andmovement sessions for residents. At DevonCare, we are advocates of ‘variety being thespice of life’ and take a proactive approach

Short Stay BreaksAt Devon Care, we understand that thedecision to move to a residential carehome is an enormous and emotionalstep for many families. That’s why weinclude a short stay option at all of ourhomes. Whether potential residents wantto come and try out staying with us, orif they simply relish the idea of a changeof scenery for a few days or weeks - wewill welcome them with the same levelof care, dignity and attention as we doour existing residents. With access to allour treatments and therapies, we’rehappy to provide nursing and residentialcare on a short term basis.
