An Introduction to JudoScotland

As the sportscotland-recognised national governing body for the Olympic sport of Judo, JudoScotland (JS) represents its growing individual membership, member clubs, coaches and hundreds of qualified, enthusiastic and committed volunteers delivering judo across Scotland. We believe that the Olympic sport of Judo has the potential to have a major impact on the lives of the Scottish population. Our sport has an inherent ability to engender respect for others, a sense of fair-play, develops a personal confidence and self-discipline within its participants, along with the obvious potential for an improvement in physical fitness.

Business Delivery TeamFollowing the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and the commencement of a new strategic plan, JudoScotland realigned its existing delivery functions under four business areas: Leadership and Governance; Business Delivery; Performance Development; and Business Support.The role of the Regional Development Officer (East) sits within the JudoScotland Business Delivery Team, alongside its membership development, people development and events functions. The Business Delivery Team is headed up by Tony Penfold, Head of Business Delivery.

Primary Job PurposeYou will be responsible for implementing and delivering the JudoScotland (JS) operational plan. Specifically, you will provide support and development opportunities for JS member Clubs and individual members in the East of Scotland (that operate within the East Regional Sporting Partnership). This will include activities to raise the capacity and capability to deliver a quality judo provision and to increase: Judo participation; Club membership; membership retention; and engagement. You will look to improve the member experience by delivering a programme of events to achieve higher customer engagement across JS and look to support the Business Delivery Team (BDT) in the planning and delivery of BDT event(s) plans. You will ensure that the impact of these events is maximised to promote the JS brand on the ground to its fullest potential.

Specific Job ResponsibilitiesMembership Support

1. To raise the profile of Judo in the East of Scotland;2. To provide support and development opportunities for JudoScotland (JS) member Clubs and

individual members in the East of Scotland (that operate within the East Regional Sporting Partnership). This will include activities to raise the capacity and capability to deliver a quality judo provision and to increase: Judo participation; Club membership; membership retention; and engagement;

3. To improve further the communication between member Clubs, JS and members of the Regional Sporting Partnership;

4. To improve member experience by delivering a programme of regional-based events to achieve higher membership engagement across JS;

5. Develop and maintain relevant partnerships across the East of Scotland with which to deliver the outcomes of JudoScotland’s Strategic and Operational Plans;

6. To develop, implement, monitor and evaluate a regional development plan;7. To support the JS membership development and people development programme(s) through

effective team working;8. To liaise with clubs to promote the JS Talent Development Programme;9. To develop opportunities, pathways and support for a range of volunteer roles for JS volunteers;10. To be responsible for developing and servicing both current and new partnerships to further

develop the sport of Judo in the East of Scotland;11. To support the Business Delivery Team (BDT) in the planning and delivery of BDT events;12. To implement appropriate monitoring systems across the BDT;13. To report on a monthly basis to the Head of Business Delivery; and14. To undertake other activity as directed by the Head of Business Delivery or the Chief Executive

Officer.

LocationJudoScotland has its headquarters located within the Edinburgh International Climbing Area (EICA) complex, South Platt Hill, Ratho, Newbridge, EH28 8AA. The role will be based at the JudoScotland office, although it will involve travel across Scotland and potentially further afield.

25. The post will be offered on an initial contract basis through to 31 March 2022 and will be subject to the continued investment from the national sports agency, sportscotland.

Remuneration and Benefits 26. Point of salary commencement will be toward the start of the relevant scale and will be

dependent on qualifications, demonstrable skills and relevant experience.27. In conjunction with government legislation, JS are required to automatically enrol all qualifying

staff members into a qualifying pension arrangement and to make employer contributions to that pension. Further details of this will be supplied to the successful candidate.
