DETAILS OF THE FORMAT, RULES AND SYLLABUS OF THE

QUIZ

( For the school authority/coordinator)

Dear assigned coordinators,This is to bring to your kind notice that a Quiz

competition Battle of the Brains. is being organised by KALPAVRIKSHA group of enthusiastic professionals with an aim to infusecompetitive spirit and positive enthusiasm amongst the students of the city.Though quiz team competitions are often viewed as the pursuit of trivialknowledge, they encourage students to achieve academic excellence andincrease their awareness of the world around them .The theme of our quizis

Students will be divided into two groups according to their age :-Group I from class V- VII ( 10-12 yrs)

Group II from class VIII-X ( 13 -15 yrs )

The quiz will have two rounds. The first or the PRELIMINARY round and the

final or the OPEN round. Each round will take place at two separate

occasions. ENGLISH will be the medium of instruction.Details of each round are as follows :-

A ) PRELIMINARY ROUND = The PRELIMINARY ROUND will be based on

the MCQ type format. For both the groups, individual question paper will

consist of 50 questions. Each question will have four choices and only one

correct answer .

For every correct attempt you will earn one points /marks and for wronganswer or inappropriate attempt no points /marks will be secured. There

will be no negative marking . The total duration of the quiz will be 1 hour.

The top

six contestants from each group will get the opportunity to enter the next

level

of the quiz. The results will be declared on the same day. It will be displayed

on the notice board of the venue college and also conveyed to the respective

school or via personal contact.The final six will be divided into 3 random

pairs after taking out the

draw. If we have more than six candidates with top marks then a short quiz

will be conducted to select the final 6 candidates .

VENUE FOR THE PRELIMINARY ROUND QUIZ

Time /Date = 10:00 am onwards , Sunday 04th August 2013

Venue = Guru Nanak Girls Inter College, Kashipur

NOTE : All the participants are requested to assemble at mentioned

centre one hour prior to the decided time along with the Part -A of the

registration form that will work as admission ticket too. Please enlist

yourself at the centre beforehand to avoid any confusion and time waste.

B ) THE FINAL OPEN ROUND = The FINAL ROUND will be an open type of

quiz where six contestants from each age group will be selected after the

prelims results . Six selected contestants will be divided into three

predecided pairs (A ,B &C).There will be quiz competition round for both the age groups one by one.

The three pairs will have to compete for maximum 10 rounds according to

the available

time. More details about the format and rules of this round will be conveyed

to the 12 chosen contestants on 04th August elaborately in the form of

written sheet. The proceeding of the quiz will be convened under the Hawk-

eye of respectable academicians of Kashipur .

VENUE FOR THE FINAL OPEN ROUND QUIZTimings = 4 pm sharp for the first group followed by the second groupDate = Thursday , 15th August 2013

Venue = UTSAV GARDEN ,Ramnagar Road ,KashipurAttractive prizes, awaits the winners and the runner up of BOTH OPEN

ROUND of the quiz. Prize distribution ceremony will be followed by

refreshments for the participants.

NOTE

# We have enclosed a registration form, a quiz poster and a participant list sheet. These

forms can be xeroxed as the need arises. The cost of registration is Rs 100/-. The last date of

submission of the form is 22/07/2013 in selected schools and 25/07/2013 in other counters.

SPOT REGISTRATION = Rs 500/-# The PART -A of the registration form has to be preserved by students and produced at

the time of First round as admission ticket. PART -B will be kept by school authority and

send to the quiz organisers for cross checking. The PART-B of the registration form along

with complete participant list should reach us by 25/07/2013. We will not accept further

registrations after that.

# These forms will be available in the respective schools, Gahtori hospital, Kasturi Devi

hospital and Dr K K Aggarwal Children Hospital Bazpur road Kashipur. The student can be
