The interior atmosphere aims to create a fun and relaxed vibe, to reflect the atmosphere the space intends to give.

The idea behind the funky and contemporary interior which is light and bright is too enhance a fun day out as a family.

Inspiration was taken from the de stijl movement and their use of bold colours and grids to organsie the space in plan and elevation. This will help to create the funky feel and style that will attract the target audience of

families. The colour pallette of blue, green, yellow and orange has been chosen because they compliment each other, and enhance peoples enjoyment.

The material choices respond to the sunlight and the reflection of the water, in the public areas. Other materials have

been chosen because of there luxurious and sensory qualities in the private areas.

Materials have also been chosen to suggest a series of discrete sight lines that frame views across the interior, as well as including the sea view.

Lighting ...As my design is opened 24 hours I want to create a fantastic atmosphere in the evening times with some unique yet simple lighting effects.

Under-bridge lighting for my pool bridges e.g. the entrance bridge.

Theo Van Doesburg... de stijl movement

Infinity Pool ...

Theo’s de stijl movement has been a great inspiration in my design thought process and outcome. His abstract and unique gridding and colouring has inspired me to re-create this in my own manner as a way to grid my design in plan and elevation.

My plan has such strong stucture as it stands, that I have used this as a starting point and used colour to make them more dramatic. I have also used the walls vertically and cut random sized holes and cut outs so the kids can play ‘peek a boo’ or what ever games then can im-agine. ‘Everything is a game to kids’.

As shown in the image to the left.

The image below is my ground floor show-ing how I have interpreted the de stijl movement into my plan.

Examples of the De Stijl:

Colour Theory ...

I have chosen these colours for all the reasons that are stated within the psychology theorys. But even more impotantly so because they compliment each other amazingly and simply brighten up the space and therefore it brightens up peoples day.

The Concept...

Visuals & Atmosphere

Page 12: Detailed Pack

As my design is aimed at families I need to create a pallete which suits all ages. As you move through my space and take the journey which I have created, the pal-lete needs to change slightly. The buidling starts to seperate into more adults only spaces like the roof top terrace, and more child designated areas like the mud room, this

means my pallete needs to change according to who its audience is.

Key Materials ...

Granite - Is a key material used within my cave/grotto area. I will use granite blocks to clad and create my walls in this area. I will use different shapes and sizes of granite with some popping out to create an abstract look. With use of downwards lighting it will pro-duce a fantastic space to be in during the evening times.

Accoya Timber - will be the cladding I use within my void area and maybe some part of my exterior. The finish is very sleek, clean and contemporary, exactly the vibe and style I tend to cre-ate.

Timber Decking - I have used this on my roof top terrace as the flooring through out. It is a very modern and luxurious timber that creates a very contemporary fin-ish.

Timber - I will use timber to build and structure my treatment pods. This will be lightweight and there-fore could easily be removed if desired. With the use of steel joists to canterleave the balconies.

Frosted Glass - Will be used to clad my treatment pods. It will be used to keep them private but with a slight sense of reveal-ing what is inside. It will also give a luxurious and beautiful look.

Bamboo - This will be used to create a sensory feel in some of the more private and delicate areas to my building.

Wooden Laths - These will be used to also clad my treatment pods, with the frosted glass on the outside and strip lighting within the middle it will create a fantastic atmosphere in the evening periods. It will also create quite a unique and sensory feel within the pod.

Overal the materials I have chosen are locally sourced, natural and as sustainable as possible.

I want my pod to be seductive on the inside and fashionable yet secretive on the outside. I have used very natural materials and tried to be local and sustainable as possible.

Page 24: Detailed Pack

Rendered Detail Section ...

19

I added some textures and materials to my detailled sec-tion to render it for my final degree show.

I used the sky to represent that the top floor was in the open air.

I moved the materials to the bottom so the section had more white around the edge and therefore stood out more and did not feel to cramped.

I put real people in rather than silhouettes.

I also added break marks on the side of my section to show that it does continue further and that I have literally taken a section.

My Mood Board ...

I produced this mood board so I could really get into the imagination and creativity of the building and my design. I have used materials which will help to build my project as well as produce my interior atmosphere.

The first name for my design which I chose was ‘Water Spa 24’. the reasoning for this was because the name kind of says it all. It is a water spa and open 24 hours a day.
