Manish Arora Fashion designer Manish Arora has been conferred with the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour) for recognition of his inspired creations and significant contribution to the fashion world as well as his longstanding ties with France. The Chevalier de laA Legion d’Honneur is France’s premier award to recognize eminent accomplishments of service to France. It is bestowed on both citizens of France as well as foreigners.

India Runway Week 2016- Spreading the message of gender equality through fashion

Former Benetton India MD Sanjeev Mohanty was on 30 October 2015 appointed as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) of fashion focused e-tailer Jabong with effect from December 2015.

India Runway Week 2016, a three day long event that took place at the Thayagraj Stadium in the Capital. Unlike other fashion weeks in the city, the runway week focused heav-ily on showstoppers, such as transgender activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathi. The event was held from April 15 to April 17, 2016.

Chettinad cotton saree wins India Handloom tag

Aditya Birla to bring Simon Carter label to India

The Union textile Ministry has bestowed the Indian Handloom Brand tag on Chettinad cotton saris for its unique designs and identity. This tag was bestowed under the India Handloom Brand Scheme after checking its various quality parameters stipulated by the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). The Ministry also has offered a logo to use the brand for marketing the product. It will also enable weavers of these saris to promote the material in the international market.

India’s largest apparel retail company Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd, formerly known as Pantaloons Fashion and Retail Ltd (ABFRL), said on 13th may 2016 that it will launch London’s Simon Carter designer wear brand in India.

Priyadarshini Chatterjee was announced as the winner of FBB Femina Miss India World by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan during a star-studded ceremony, which was attended by eminent names from the film and fashion industry.Priyadarshini will represent India at the Miss World 2016 pageant. Tirupur to host the 42nd India International knit fair 2016

Ankita Karat wins Miss Queen of India 2016.

The 42nd India International Knit Fair for spring summer collection organized by India Knit Fair Association will be held in Tirupur from May 11, 2016.

Ankita Karat from Mumbai has won this year’s Miss Queen of India title. Reshmitha Gowda from Chikmangalore and Aishwarya Dinesh from Bengaluru became first and second runner up in the grand finale.

The three-day fashion extravaganza and exposition took place in Mumbai and New Delhi. The shows were held from June 3 to June 5 in Mumbai and from June 17 to June 19 in Gurgaon.

Pantaloons Fashion & Retail, which was acquired by Aditya Birla Nuvo Ltd (ABNL), on January 12, 2016 announced change in its name to ‘Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd’. The change would be effective from Tuesday, the company informed the BSE.

Lakme Fashion Week 2016

Lakmé Fashion Week’s opening show, March 30, was nothing short of spectacular. Manish Malhotra showed a collection that was dreamy and glamorous. Starting with soothing pastel hues and ending with earth blues and greens, the clothes combined traditional Indian silhouettes with contemporary elements.Arjun, Jacqueline turn showstoppers for Manish Malhotra.

Lakme Fashion Week ended on April 3 with one of India’s finest designers Rohit Bal’s collection display. The grand finale was memorable. The designer did not want to compromise on the location of his show, and unlike other shows the grand finale was held at the lawns of the Grand Hyatt.

Four Indian designers for womenswear and one for menswear are among India, Pakistan and Middle East regional nominees announced by The Woolmark Company for the International Woolmark Prize, one of the most coveted designer awards in fashion.The award ceremony was held on July 15, 2016 in Mumbai, The Woolmark Company.

Amazon Fashion Week commenced on March 16 and hd its grand finale on March 20th. The 5 day event saw fashion shows of spectacular designers. The event was sponsored by amazon.in, fitbit, Maybelline New York, Boroline, Liva, Pearl Academy, Elle, Raw and Radiomirchi.
