Included Special Features

Your Designer Shed incorporates a host of special design features to make your shed stronger, safer and more attractive to the eye - at no additional cost.

Rock-solid knee joints (with competitor knee joint for comparison): these are engineered for maximum strength, either eliminating the need for intrusive knee braces or reducing their size.

Full-width flashings: our flashings leave no galvanised steel exposed. This means when you order a COLORBOND® shed, you get full COLORBOND®, with no exposed metal gaps.

Full-strength columns throughout (no flimsy columns at the extremities): not only making your shed stronger, but allowing you to extend or modify your shed later without costly rework.

Strong, walkable roofing: at all times and in all designs, you’re safe to walk on the roof for maintenance or to retrieve the odd frisbee or tennis ball. Beware of any roof that is listed as “non-trafficable”. This means the materials are so flimsy you’re at risk of falling through!

Folded flashings with no sharp edges: most sheds have sharp edges that cause cuts with the slightest contact. Our flashings have no exposed edges.

Step 1: Start With A Free Design and Quote SessionThis session is held over the phone with the aid of screen sharing, and usually takes just 15 minutes.

Step 2: We Supply You With A Design & QuoteWe’ll email you your custom shed plans and a fixed price quote, including all delivery or pickup charges. When you’re happy with your design, simply pay a 10% deposit to get your shed plans and engineering, ready for council submission.

The Shed Building Process, Step-By-Step

Step 3: Get Council Approval (If Required)You get the green light from council (if required) to proceed with your shed. We’re happy to help if you have any questions.

Step 4: We Manufacture Your ShedWe manufacture your shed via one of our 27 manufacturing locations nationwide.

What types of sheds do you manufacture? The types of steel sheds we manufacture are limited only to your imagination, up to a 24 metre span, 6 metres high and any length, with awnings either side.

We build garages, carports, workshops, farm sheds, commercial sheds, industrial sheds, stables, horse arenas, storage sheds, aircraft hangars and more. You tell us what you want to put in it and we’ll show you how make it happen.

Are there any types of sheds you don’t build? Yes. We don’t build shed homes, kit homes or granny flats. These fall under a different building classification that we do not specialise in.

Where are your customers based? Our customers come from every state and territory of Australia - and we’ve even shipped sheds overseas!

Do I need council approval to erect my shed? Generally, you will require council approval, and we can help advise you through this process.

Can you also build my shed for me? Because we ship to all corners of Australia, we focus on supplying and manufacturing shed kits. Our proprietary designs are so simple that any builder can erect your shed with ease. And if you don’t know a builder, we’ll help you find one. This is often the most cost effective way to build your shed, without compromising on quality.

Designer Sheds Directors, Chris Laan and Peter Roughan have been designing and manufacturing sheds for over 22 years. However, things didn’t always go so smoothly in the early days...

They started out selling sheds under license for one of the ‘big’ shed brands. (That’s how most shed companies in Australia operate). Yet they faced constant problems...

The materials they received from the manufacturer were constantly wrong or incomplete. The plans were inaccurate. And any time their customers wanted a custom size or feature, they would have to pay a fortune for a whole extra kit of materials they didn’t really need.

Not only that, but the poor builder would tear their hair out trying to figure out how to assemble these “frankensheds”.

Chris and Peter tried buying from other ‘big’ shed brands. But the problems persisted. They spent

most of our time dealing with (legitimate) customer complaints, chasing missing components and the like.

Our customers always start with a Free Shed Design & Quote Session to help you get the exact shed you want (not the shed you’re told you can have) for around the same price as a stock-standard kit shed.

Most shed companies will simply ask what size shed you want, and do up a quick quote based on their standard and cheapest option. They don’t care if it will do everything you need, or if it will match its surroundings.

We ask things like:

• what you want to use the shed for• how big are the things you want

to put in it (cars, trucks, caravans, boats and even horses come in many different sizes!)

• what the surrounding buildings and structures are made from

• what your access is like

THEN we translate your design specifications or ideas into a finished shed design.

The end result is that we nearly always end up supplying a quote for a totally different shed than the one you might have started out asking for…
