If you don’t have an em-broidery machine, but you like the flower motif given with the pattern for the Flower Dance Quilt in the June 2009 issue of Quilter’s World, you can make the quilt just the same. Instead of using the embroidery stitching, you may cut the flower, flower center and leaves from fabric and appliqué in place.
Refer to the instructions below for appliqué specif-

Follow the instructions for cutting and stitching the Flower Dance quilt except instead of embroidering the A squares, trace flower shapes given here onto the paper side of fusible web; cut out shapes leaving a margin around each one. Fuse shapes to fabrics as noted for flowers, centers and leaves, and cut out shapes on traced lines; re-move paper backing.
Center and fuse the leaves, then the flower
and finally the center on an A square; repeat with all A squares.
Cut five 5" x 5" squares fabric stabilizer. Place a square behind each fused motif and machine-appliqué in place using thread to match fabrics. Stitch along lines inside the flower motif to make petals.
Complete quilt as direct-ed in Quilter’s World, adding names to outside borders and quilting as desired by hand or machine.
